Title: True Combat - ET total conversion

I've recently found a true multiplayer FPS gem. True Combat is a Enemy Territory total conversion featuring modern combat in the well known Terror/Antiterror setting.

It's quite realistic when it comes to aiming and equpiment but of course it cannot get rid of its Q3 roots.

Some of the beta levels are fantastic and offer a yet to be seen realistic combat enviroment (for a mulitplayer shooter).

So get the downloads started. Nothing to lose, everything free...

Post by: Chairboy on July 01, 2005, 09:39:40 AM: When I saw 'ET Total Conversion', I was sort of hoping for a moment that your post would be about a game where you fly bicycles around in aerial combat with an alien huddled in the front basket.

The more I think about it, the more I think that needs to be created. But not by the official folks. If Spielberg touches it, then each bicycle would be equipped with walkie talkies instead of 'Turn on Your Heart Light' lasers.

Post by: United on July 01, 2005, 10:37:30 AM: Downloaded it and it doesnt work. I got it all started and theres 0 servers. Then, when I went to create my own to screw around in, it crashed. Are there additional files I need other than ET itself?

- WolfET.exe
- ETPatch 1.02
- ETPatch 2.60
- Setup0209_full.exe
- tcetest_048 (just copied over)

Worked on first try...

It's really a promising mod. A mix between CounterStrike and Infiltration (UT mod if anyone remember).

Thats exactly what I did... Except I went

ET.exe
patch 1.02
setup0209
tcetest_048 (this goes in the main tcetest folder, correct?)
etpatch 2.60

Ima try uninstalling and reinstalling here real quick.

I can't after un-install/re-install it still ctds when I try to host and I can't connect to any other game.

When you host your own change game type from 'custom' to either objective or bodycount.

That will allow you to host a game. I still cant join any game. I get an 'invalid CD key' message (which is strange for a free game).

None of my friends can connect to my server when I host either.

I don't have time to mess with it anymore today. I will try Sunday.

Kirin any tips? Or does just work fine for you?

Fix was to update Punkbuster

goto:

C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\pb

click on pbweb,

(DOS window opens up and it takes a few minute for it to update...)

I then hosted my own game and typed:

pb_cdkeyreg

in the console (~ key)

You can do this while before online with WolfET. If this doesn't work delete the

etkey

file in your:

C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain

The try it again.

You may not need to update PB but I had WolfET installed for years and hadn't played it in that long. I update just to be sure that wasn't the problem or part of the problem anyway.

I played a bit online but nopt much to have formed an opinion.

Its a bit better then CS with the Iron Sites though...

Post by: United on July 01, 2005, 08:51:09 PM: Bah, still didnt work. But, its not much of a problem. I just remembered that ET has aweful screen flickers that make the game unplayable and they have transfered over to this one.
