Jeb Bush v. Hillary Clinton in 2008.
-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
*urp*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!
Thank you.
Now I'm gonna have nightmares
-
I wonder... are we foolish enough to elect another Bush as president?
I hope that we are not. I suspect that we indeed are.
-
Nah, this country really doesn't like dynasties.
If the D's had a better horse than Kerry, they'd have won the race.
I say again, this next won is the D's to lose. The country will be tired of R Presidents, tired of the war, tired of the debt, tired of no progress on any domestic front.
They'll get more of the same from the D's, of course, but they'll change for the sake of change.
Unless the D's step on their crank and run someone as bad as Dean or something.
EEEeeeEEEEEEEeyyyyARRRGGGH!
-
I think the one to look for is McCain. He's about the only one I can think of that can bring another term to the GOP.
-
Yeah, but the Repubs won't nominate McCain.
-
I'm almost ashamed that I 'd vote for McCain, and he'd probably turn out to be another "compassionate" conservative.
-
I don't think they will either. I suspect he's not "trusted" by the backroom lever-pullers.
-
That's probably why I'd vote for him.
-
Ever wonder why he isn't trusted in the republican party?
BECAUSE HE ISN'T A ****ING REPUBLICAN!
I still see Condileeza Rice making a surprise announcement for her candidacy.
-
That's probably why you won't get the chance.
-
You will never see the day that Billary or anyone like her is elected to presidential office.
-
And from this past election, and the so far presumptions for the next one - although it won't matter because both parties will be the same as they are today, is why both democrat and republican parties are less than poop.
Voted neither last election, and unless they change significantly won't be voting for either in three 2/3 years.

When us malcontents elect a Libertarian as President, the D's and R's will change. ;)

Well, that and he's not trusted by the same red state religeous voters that gave Bush another term. No Republican can get elected without them.
A real tough place to be. Kinda ironic, but it's like signing a deal with the devil.
-
I think to get to the red state voters you first have to win the nomination. To do that, I think you have to have the support of the guys in the smokey back room. That's where the pipeline of money to run resides.
Maybe that's me being too cynical but there it is.
-
Those smokey back room guys are accountable to (or speak for) the voters.
-
Are they really? Does anyone really know how the big money gets earmarked for a certain guy? How the decision is made on who gets the lion's share?
-
Winnibility divided by agenda.
Can this guy win? If so, does he speak to our agenda. Does he speak to our agenda? If so, can he win?
That's the equation. Anything else is just throwing money down the drain.
As far as the "smokey back room" types are concerned, their guy has to be able to win. First and foremost. And the only way he can do that (talking about Republicans here now) is by relying on a voting block that can get that done. So the only way to do it is by having a guy who appeases that block.
..... essentially making him unelectable by the rest of the country.
The more that block turns up the heat (such as Schiavo, choice, school prayer, SC nominations) the tougher it becomes for the Republicans who got elected by them. The tougher it will be for another Republican to get elected on the next go around.
Like I said - they signed a deal with the devil.
-
It's been pretty close two times in a row now. I'm still thinking "Republican fatigue" makes it the Dems election to lose.
-
There is that.

Don`t look now Ethel, but there has not been a D or an R for a long , long time.
It`s a banner that carries no merit , nor meaning and hasn`t for quite some time.
-
Well, Ethel says that's what they call themselves and what we call them to tell them apart. ;)
-
Bah.
Just because Republicans lost the plot (remember smaller government? fiscal responsibility? accountability?) doesn't mean the Democrats have.
Don't shlep yer problems on the entire thing just 'cause yer stuff went awry.
-
Oh yeah.. the Dems haven't lost the plot. Heck no, they're right on course with Skipper Dean at the helm.
There's to lose and they're working at that. ;)
-
Want me to comment on Dean or something?

That`s my point. There is no telling them apart. No basic grounds anymore. No common beliefs or principals. For sale to the highest bidder comes to mind.

There's no telling them apart because they have nothing in common?
-
Exactly. Nobody goes there anymore because it's just too crowded.

I was speaking from a D or R respective as a party.
-
Well then.... there's 3 posts in a row that don't make sense to me.

Then go back and edit them until they become clear to you. Hurry. You only have 5 minutes. :)

FWIW even the Arizona voters aren't too sure about McCain. It just happens that there hasn't been a better alternative pop up yet.
-
I do see Jeb possibly running. In the past he has always said that he plans to give up politics once finished as Gov. But he is not saying that anymore and is being more elusive when asked about future plans. I think he would like to give up politics since he indicated that he has really hated it, but I also think that there are a lot of groups pressuring him to run for higher office. Conservatives idolize the Bush dynasty and would vote for him almost no matter what.
As far as Condi...I would see her as an excellent marketing tool in the VP spot. First black...first woman VP. And with Jeb...first hispanic First Lady. Jeez...almost makes you believe the Reps are all about diversity. :lol
For the Dems...I've said it before...I think the nominee will be Gov Bill Richardson. Hillery will probably have to make a choice if she wants to be his running mate...but personally, given the polarization that anything with the name Clinton causes, she should stay off the ticket.
-
I see the Republicans winning again and again.... Jeez, like the Energizer bunny.
Talk about a cynical view.

hey Nash you knucklehead =) ,
the US gov't grew 210% under Clinton, without ANY national crisis to goad it into growing.
try again

What's it at now, bud?

Quoting based on memory without actually looking (I am tired), it's at a 75% growth. That includes a national tragedy that no presidency has ever faced.
Either way, I am not happy with Bush, I hated Clinton, and Kerry was an idiot.
Whats next, hopefully not Hillary.
-
Ah, wotev. ;)
Imma ta bed. Cheers.
