the 'gamers' are gunna freak on me lol
1. Overheating - it happened!
2. no auto retract flaps - they can become broken like the gears
3. PUFFY CLOUDS! - lol we had them the AH1!
4. Night time - do i need to explain?
5. Fog - im not talking about the fog we have, i mean like morning fog, and just normal fog that hard to see in
6. Con Trails!! - please!!!
7. One more thing that doesnt seem "right" - the planes in AH2 are a bit ummm jerky, ive never flown a plane so im prob wronge, but all the actions in AH2 look all jerky, you can see this in 3rd person mode and deff in the film viewer.
I know im asking for alot and it would take a while, but it doesnt hurt to ask!
-
Never hurts to ask;)

Be nice to have engine overheatings while you have your engine on full blast all the time, the flap thing, and the Puffy cload like AH1. I remeber flying in those with Lancs and comming out of the cloud facing the ground and then compressing. LOTS of fun
-
All great suggestions, except for the "jerky movement". Ever seen a prop plane fly 50 feet above you, doing turns and rolls? They're very jerky, especially with rudder movements. You have to be a really good stick to do super-smooth movements.

Add these too:
8. Head Shake
9. Open/Close Canopy
10. Wing folds for the Naval Fighters
:D
-
loose bolts too

Out of those, we already have a head shake feature. It could use an update, though.

Agree, all good sugestions, however I like the clouds better now, no more grey wall popping up, would like the IL2 clouds evern more though. Flight Unlimited 3 had nice clouds aswell.
Overheating and autoretract flaps have been brought up before, several times. I've either dreamt, heard a rumor, or atleast discussed this, but I vagly remember something about engine overheat and ToD, don't get your hopes up though as I probarly have dreamt it.
One sugstion for overheat was this.
Keep normal AH auto WEP off when engine gets warm, this can be used by most pilots/new pilots/more casual pilots, whatevre you want, see it as a stall limiter for your engine.
Also, combined with this, add a feuture for more hardcore players to have engine overheat and brake down if it gets run too hard. To use the more real option would of course bring advantages such as actually being able to run the WEP for a longer time aswell as getting more output from it.
No auto retract flaps would be nice too but don't think we will see it if I remember correct from the posts HTC has made, who knows, maybe ToD will introduce new stuff like this.
Fog, would be nice and cool :)
Contrails would be nice and cool :)

I almost forgot, night time has been in the MA and it stayed for quite some time, however one could easily see that the number of players dropped drasticly during the half hour night. This tend to piss people off, specially those who might not be able to fly more then half and hour or an hour a day (or even less).
Believe night will stay out of the MA as the community have spoken.

RE Fog: I remember one Saturday morning HT was online playing when all off a sudden things started looking weird. Like a real nice grey mist started appearing, it looked great. The general concensus seemed to like it, just wonder why it has never returned?
-
Arena settings Kev, can do it your self offline if you like.
I guess the reason it has never returned is that is affects the whole arena.
Fog would be nice but not everywhere.
-
Well we could have an arena wide fog in the morning that burns off during the day, and at evening.
Couldn't we?
Just for a change!!!!!!
-
oo yeah fix the head shake, i feel like my head is on a spring!
-
Perhaps when you roll the plane Hitech could model spanners and stray nuts and bolts falling about the cockpit too! :lol
Of all the above requests I think Nightime should return, at the very minimum.

Contrails are caused by very cold air, I think you would need to be above 25,000 or so for that or have winter conditions, which we don't in AH.
Stand on the side of the highway in the winter time when it's 40 below, watch the contrails coming from the stacks on trucks :)
Why are all these guys trying to come up with ways to make the game a big pain in the butt instead of something you can have some fun with for a couple of hours

Why would the game be a big pain in the but if contrails were added? I understand that you are confused if this is what you think contrails are for.
Contrails would be nothing more then a cool eye-candy sort of thing. Would be awsome to watch those high alt buff missions roll in with contrails behind them. Even flown Il2 Sturmovik? Check out the contrails there and you'll understand how nice looking the high alt fights are.
-
I'd guess he's not bashing contrails, just remarking that we currently lack the conditions for them. However, there's been a surge (or at least it seems there have been) of "realism" ideas that mostly involve ways to avoid fights, prevent fights, stop fights, or cause planes to spontaneously blow up. It seems the majority of these requests are geared toward making AH look like il2, fly like a hardcore simulation, and have all the air to air action of watching paint dry. Adding contrails would be, IMO, the only reasonable request in the list. I don't know the alt/temperature/conditions required, but arbitrarily giving any plane above the cloud layer a contrail would add some eyecandy and a means of picking out distant cons without being too gamey. Would probably take some tweaking, but I'd be in favor of trying it.

The link:
Contrails Physics (http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/wxwise/contrail.html)
Desribes the physics of contrails. Only the ME262 at high altitude would remotely fill the critieria for such a phenomena. However, since any flight sim (game) on the net is not real life , and will never ever be, it would be kind of cool to see contrails.

p.s. I remember the quotes of pilots who flew in air combat during WW2, "hours of boredom punctuated by seconds of sheer terror". Personally, I don't want to relive that. No fun.

ummm hellooo that dont look like a 262 to me ....and look contrails

1. we already have it
2. no
3. no
4. no
5. no
6. maybe
7. you're wrong

Gwjr2, a picture says more then a thousand words :D

I actually believe we need night time back. It's getting boring without it.
And BTW, the community didn't speak to get rid of night. It was just a bunch of whiney baby's who wouldn't stop whining.
-
NewFPS = CurFPS / Contrails^10. Everytime some eye candy rolls out, FPS goes down hill. Not a problem if you are not fighting planes. Big problem if you are.
-
Upon further investigation, the technical paper (in pdf)
Contrails Formation (http://ctr.stanford.edu/Summer02/paoli.pdf)
Describes the phenomina of contrails very well as ice particles from the water vapor in engine exhaust. Soot and other exhaust particles provide nucleation points for the exhaust water vapor to condense and freeze forming contrails. These ice clouds (contrials) should be able to form for any plane that is in atmospheric conditions allowing the exhaust water vapor to freeze.
Here is another link talking about WW2 contrails:
Bomber Contrails (http://www.goodsky.homestead.com/files/deception5.html)
I'm ok with contrials, but why you would want them (much like night time) is beyond me. They were unwanted during WW2 bombing operations.

Malta

Add G effects to pilot's head/veiw.
-
Remove the canopy frame (or make it somewhat transparent).
Right now, it's as if we all have monocular vision and our heads are mounted on a post that can move left/right/forward/back/up/down, but cannot tilt.

So that us fighter jocks can see buff formations better, just as during WW2 :)
They may have been unwanted for WW2 bomber crews but not for the enemy fighters.

I think they would be cool if HT puts in any type of dynamic weather where they would form at diff alts as in RL. Want to do a buff raid in tod get a weather report and breif like they did, then base your alt accordingly B17s usally bombed from 27k so most of the time they had them.
