After looking at last months stats, will HT ever give us a full bomber crew? Most every missions are a one way trip, wonder how it would be if every gun was manned on each plane? Ofcourse we would have to do away with drones, right?

Sorry but I doubt it will ever happen.
He's explained why before, I'm just too lazy to go look it up for you.

Id give up drones for manned positions. Thats was fun as heck in AW

It is not worth what you give up. In that other life you were talking about how often was a bomber with out gunners at all vs a full load of gunners.
There are drastic differences how ah gunners work vs the old AW system. Such as I do not belive AW showed tracers.
The things you would give up, is controlying mutliple guns with just 2 on board. Seeing tracers from the bombers, ability to jump around instantly.
I agree with you is was fun to load up a bomber on occasion, but it realy didn't happen very often, so the tradeoffs just made it not worth it.

The choices.
1. How often would all stations maned.
2. How important is it to see where the gunners are shooting.
3. How important is it to be able to quickly jump to a position.
4. Would a formation of 7 groups be better and more usefull than 1 full bomber.
5. How much extra band width would be needed to handle each station.
6. How much extra memory to be able to keep track of each gun.
7. How to handled unmanend guns.
8. How complex would a system be to have multiple gunners handleing multiple guns.
9 . How to hand off ammo loads when some one leaves.
10. How long would this system take to write.
In the end I looked at all of these questions, and decided it wasn't worth the few times you actulaly load up a bomber with gunners.

Having a 17 full of gunners was great in AW; the Nomads would all get on a couple ships and literaly drink and have fun until we got shot down or augered. What made it better is that all bombers had an internal vox channel...
Granted, having fully crewed 17s is a novelty but then again, so is the .45 on bailed out pilots.
There is alot of things I wish HTC would do to encourage the community to mature (the text system for starters), maybe I'm just being nostalgic about the whole mess.

Personally, to make AH more WWII realistic, I think bombers should have a full crew. There are many squads in AH that would be more than happy to give up drones to fully gun a bomber. Hench, the way it was in WWII. Of course there's still the "No Night or Snow Issues"
The question is, how eager would you to fly up and attack a fully gunned bomber knowing that there are 8 guns pointed at you from most any direction you come from? I know writing code is a drag and trying to incorporate it into a working frame is murder, but the more realistic the game the longer customers stay around.
I've subscribed to AH for about 3 years now, and the game just keeps getting better and better. If it didn't, I leave for some other sim on the net.
BTW, Thanks Slapshot for posting the old reply.:aok

U should be able to load a full bomber. Reason I think would be a good 1 is when U and your squad are on a bomber mission with fighter escorts. Granted U might not load up all gunner positions, but when a fighter escort gets shot down or another bomber in your group, they can join U as a gunner and I talking more then just 1 gunner and pilot. Not only that but the more people U have on a bomber, the more area U can watch at 1 time. 1 person can't watch every angle at sametime. When Multiple fighters come in it to hard for 1 or even 2 gunners to cover all angles. When U have at least 4 gunners your chances of survival in a multiple fighter attack is increased.

This sounds like most of the nights I flew in AW with the USMC. I'm now pretty much a furballer, but in AW, I was all about the Deathstar (and getting as inebriated as possible while still being able to type and aim to a limited extent. Ahhh, the good ol' days.)
Maybe, just maybe, if they knew they might possibly live for more than a minute after the drop, the divebombing idiots in formations might attempt to learn the already incredibly simple bombing from alt system, and participate in the fight instead of trying to prevent it. And, maybe, just maybe, monkeys will fly out of my, er, chair.

For what its worth, a good many of those one way flights are because people are using the B-17s as F-17s....meaning they swoop in low, planning on dying, with their only goal being smacking as many bombs on hangars.
Now I know a lot of guys like this sort of action, since they get to jump in the guns and get some kills.
Myself, I prefer to go in with altitude, hit my targets and land safely.
The gunning idea sounds neat but in my experience, most of the buff gunners Ive had go AFK when under attack or just very poor shots.

AC-17's. You get the bombs off, and then you got 2nd Louie donutwood in the 50's while your doing circuts putting a rediculous amount of 50cal down on a single panzer. Its impressive to see , but very difficult to be effevtive with.

Yeah being able to crew bombers was great in AW. Calling out bandits to your crew mates was a blast.

Fly for the Bishops in the moment and you
will see you have not enough men to
man all fighters against those banger
knit-roks.
How will you find some men to build
whole bomber crews ???
But, nice idea :aok
