I have a question about the black anti-glare paint on it's nose. I've seen pictures on which the black is surrounded by a yellow line, but there are also pics of them NOT having the yellow line.
Which is correct?

I need to know this for Im making a modell of it.
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure.
Note that there was more than one "Putt Putt Maru", I'm sure "Mac" had a P-38L as well. The one with 27 kill markers is likely a P-38L.
Check out the 475th websites, "Mac" was the CO.
I'll do some looking around for you.

Just flipped through "possum, clover, & hades, 475th F/G in WWII" by schiffer publishing. In the back there are several photographs of MacDonald's various "Putt Putt Maru."
the first putt putt looks like an olive drab J-5 or early J-10 because the wind screen is rounded, ie lacks the one piece bullet proof windscreen. this 38 looks nothing like MacDonald's much published photos of the traditional putt putt maru.
The second is a natural metal J-15 which looks similar to later putt putts and looks like the yellow trim is missing.
the 3rd putt putt, 38L-1 44-24843 looks like it has the yellow trim around the black painted section that the victories are contained in.
4th putt putt 38L-5 44-25643 looks the same as the 3rd one
5th putt putt 38L-5 44-25471 looks the same as 3 and 4.

Hmm, so basically, everything is right?

The black is not gloss, but matte black. No sheen should show.

Yeah but the boxart shows a yellow line around it, but these pictures say it hasn't, Im curious on what I should modell

well if your model is a J, and you are doing the natural metal look... there is no yellow line.
