It is amazing to hear some bishops call myself and others traitors, Because were flying rook now.
For you shallow minded noobs You have no idea what your talking about. When you fly only for 1 country for entire time your in this GAME, Your missing out on 66% of people i call friends.
heres examples
1. When I was in hospital in bad shape besides my squadmates who were bishops at the time. 75% of cards or flowers or calls and e-mail were not from bishops but entire 2 so called enemy teams.
2. When house burnt down, was a rook who offered me furniture or anything Esle i may need. He called offered me everything. GRMRPR.
So to be so single minded to get on 200 call me or others traitors You need to step back from this GAME look in mirror. Because my friend your the ones that look foolish and absurd.
And I can't tell you many times i've help others Bishops, rook, and knights in my 5+ years. From paying guys on all sides accounts for 6months at a time to Giving away new video cards, or other computer parts all the way to Having employees in GA. vol 's searching for Blammo's son David. And when David left hospital He was carring a AH teddy bear and ballons as he walked out hospital after being checked. These things were done by myself, rooks and nits.
So in short Toolie flcwng reaper31st you all need to look at life before you end up with no life.
This is a GAME. Some of us like flying with others once in awhile. And if you had class you would want to get to know as many of these guys as you can. My favorite Phone conversations have been with guys like Silat, Macmaw, Shane etc. and always on private with someone on other side when i'm on. I consider all sides friends and have never been acussed of spying or anything as absurd as what some bishops say, NMost time its welcome aboard no matter how long your here. Those who see this as a community. Just glad 95% get its a game and friends are here for the making.
P.s. 367th I do miss squad has nothing to do with original 367th. you know i'm here for what ever any of you need or might want to talk about.

Very well said Rod.

Well put.

:aok :aok :aok
-
Rod,
Got the same stuff when I switched sides awhile back. I, like you have many friends that fly on the other sides. Really sucks when you have to listen to that BS on ch 200 and on private from guys you thought of as friends.
My choice was to ignore it and then use them for target practice.

well put rod367th. :aok
I like to call them 'other countries' rather than 'enemy'... except when they shoot me of course ;).
But its a game, and that doesnt mean we cant chat on PM while killing each other.
to all players i fly with or against or both.

Being called a traitor when switching countries in game is accurate. As far as the game is seeing it. It says nothing about the person as a person on a personal basis. ........yeah...that makes sense :D
It’s a game. If someone takes being called a traitor in game personal. Isn’t that person kind of personalizing a game?
Do as you wish and enjoy doing it. Traitor! :D
-
Mugz:
"Being called a traitor when switching countries in game is accurate"
To you maybe!
"Isn’t that person kind of personalizing a game?"
No, It is because HTC has made it that way, not the player. If this were the case then the kill message would read "you shot down an enemy plane" NOT "you shot down LTARmoil" That now makes it "personal"
The game would also have no need for a database to keep track of how many kills you had on player "X" or vise versa. It would simply state you shot down 34 enemy A/C. (example)
-
Also for the impared, the game now promotes switching countries to even the balance. To hound and insult people for doing what the game asks for to even the balance is not only childish it down right

Rod, don’t worry about what some fools say...they just do it because they have nothing better to do/say. I personally have never changed countries, but it’s just because im lazy. Play the game how you want to play it, and to heck with everyone who gives you crap.

What?!?!? There are people on the other side???
:-)
From all the way back in the old CK days (Pre WB) some of my best friends started off (and often remained) my enemies. The old squealing Pigs vs Blacksheep rivalry was great.
I miss them still.
Ouch out.

Hey Rod, it also shows , just how kind hearted people can be, even those people that try to kill you on a daily basis.
Sometimes Gaming can make some people real jerks, in the game play, but outside the gaming world they have hearts of gold :)

R0D IS A TRADER!!111!! THEIR IS NO ROOM FOR COWARDESS AND TRAIDERS; WE MUST W1N TEH W4R AT AL COSTSS!!1!!! PANEFUL DETH AWAITS TRAYDERS OF YOUR KIND!!111!
Seriously, screw the guys calling you a traitor and all that crap. We know you have so many accounts you never needed to be a spy for someone else, and we don't buy that you're spying for others. :D
I, too, used to have the misguided chesspiece loyalty, having learned it (to a limited extent) in AW. (Eat hot death, Bz and Cz scum! :p ), but after having flown on all 3 sides, now, I only regret that I didn't hop around more in AH1.
It is just a game, and it should be fun. I think if more squads rotated, and more people switched sides, I think the community as a whole would be a little more tightly knit, and that would be better for all involved. ITS A GAME, D***N IT, HAVE FUN OR ELSE!
:aok

I got the EXACT same thing going on. When I first started I was a Rook and I flew with a certain squad for a long time, it was really allot of fun, but after a while I got tired of doing the same thing over and over again and I decided I wanted to find me a squad that flew allot of lone wolf style fighter missions. So I go bishop and join a new squad but not before telling my old squad that I really enjoyed flying with them and in no part is my leaving any of there faults, but now on ch 200 they will call me a traitor and all kinds of stupid crap you can think of. I respect those guys so much and had so much fun flying with them, I can't believe they say some of the things they do. Whenever I see one of em land kills I will salute em, just found out the other night from one of the guys thats in the old squad that they make fun of me everytime I salute em, he says everytime I do that they all talk crap about me for like 5 minutes. And then they say I'm marked and wherever I go they will go there to shoot me down. Not trying to get any crap started just wanted to say I'm in your same position and I'm sure theres allot more people that are like us

lol - good guys on all sides :)

Becoming obsessed over that chess piece, I mean country you fly for is probably the dumbest thing you can do in game.
Have fun, kill stuff, drink some beer, and make some friends. The "war" never ends, so get over it you little Napoleons.
Well said, Rod .

Iceman, the same goes for you buddy... if you are having fun doing what you are doing, then keep doing it and screw those guys. If they act like that then they aren't your friends and definetely aren't as loyal of a friend as you seem to be. Pretty sad if you ask me....

So what's the squad name? I have a feeling that if they're the type of squad that would put you through this grief in a non-joking manner then they're probably the sort of squad who wouldn't be down to fight under normal circumstances. I'm thinking of joining just to leave and get myself some more action :D

Do what I did. When people ask you why you changed countries just ask them to keep it quiet cause you are spying for them :lol

I could really care less what a bunch of people I have never even met before think of me lol Its actually getting very funny though.. Sorry won't name any names, don't wanna start a big mess, all I can say is they can follow me around all they want to lol Get allot of kills like that lol The new squad I'm in is freakin awesome, flying with some of the best pilots in the game, I have learned soooo much about dogfighting since switching and it has made the game sooo much funner... Don't tell them about the secret LA7 option that allows it to carry 30 troops under the wings.

A guru in community dynamics once explained what was the major appeal of massive online gaming.
He said most players weren't aware of it, and assumed it was the game play. But, while most games grow old in time, online gaming grows more addictive. Most players don't realize what causes this addiction until they lose it.
It then becomes obvious that what we miss most is the interaction with the other players and social involvement. It's the combination of love and hate, friendships and hostilities, of shame and glory. Though the game is a virtual activity, the community is as real as your home town.
Rod, your comments struck a chord with me, as you captured the essence of why many of us are here. But relax Rod, the community is a combination of the good, bad and the ugly. Even those who call you a traitor are contributing to the whole.
If you've never had the opportunity to know Jonathan Baron (aka Blue Baron), there is an empty corner in your life. He is the god of BigWeek.
-
thats deep right there, I don't care who you are!
on the nut. Thanks for your .02. Pure eloquence, Grizz.
:D
-
Or you can be like me; nobody but anyone on the Rooks really knows who I am, I never land kills unless I'm on the ground in a tank or gun, and don't usually mess around on Ch200. Basicly, I could switch and only old squaddies would even notice me. :p
-
I tried switching countries once, but I kept getting lost. :)
-
All good thoughts about its only a game, but in a funny way we make it a reflection of life (especially as we spend so much of our lives playing it). Griz is right, there are the good, the bad and the ugly even in here. In fact, each of us reflects the kind of person we are in real life whether we mean to or not.
For myself, I'm a loyalty adict. If I give my allegience to people (not the chess piece or country) I find it hard to arbitrarily switch sides, and my value system makes it difficult to accept that someone I've defended and befriended, would go to 'the other side'. Even though I know this is just a game, sometimes it hurts a bit, and does feel a bit like betrayal. But, its a game after all, and I interact with everyone on all sides as if they are my friends (at least those that don't talk smack, or try to cause trouble) no matter what, even though I probably won't ever understand how they could leave my wing.
Different strokes for differnt folks. We each see the world from our own, unique set of glasses. We gotta make allowances for the fact that others may be seeing something completely different.
And its only a game. Wish it were a job, then I'd be set for life.
-
well said sloehand.
i got to call out rod tho...he listed me as someone who was calling him a traitor. I told him on private the next night that he was mistaken. i remember him practically taunting a guy about him switching on ch 200 and i asked him to be quiet. He told me he had recorded the interaction and perhaps he made a mistake. He said he would review it. I asked him to simply post a retraction if/when he found out he was wrong. HE has not done this...i guess its nice to type lies in this forum and get sympathy...unless the guy you are typing about reads it....
-
I dunno, but I find less expectations of me in an online game makes it more fun. I have enough responsibilities in real life - I don't need to create more. I pay $15 a month to play like a little kid, not worry over the fate of an imaginary country.
to each his own.
-
i wish i could be like you btw..perhaps if i started the game all over again. i dont really care about the winning or losing as much as my friends have fun. I have my goofy shooter games online such as tribes or everquest that i jump to when its no fun ...but even in those you cant have the lopsidedness that this game allows and even promotes by not penalizing numbers besides a goofy perk bonus. Knights and rooks had 180, and 157 to bish 90 last night..rooks had NO eny and knits had 15???
-
If ya wanna jump countries, jump countries.
If ya don`t , don`t.
Some of us don`t, others do. It`s a matter of choice.
If you do jump, expect to be critized. It`s part of it.
Take the pain, shutup the whining and play. It`s a freaking game. :)

Very well said BTW. This is how I feel about planes. People whine and tell you to get out of the EZ mode spit5 or the n00b lala(basically any plane that they can't beat you in). They tell you to learn to fly a real VIRTUAL airplane lol. I play for fun and to relax, nuthing else, no "war", no country, not to survive a sortie. I just wanna take off and kill some enemas before my virtual plane is kaput. If I choose an EZ mode spit5 and you choose to whine about it, more power to ya. I'll sit back and giggle knowing you're getting all upset over a game. Basically it comes down to this, if I feel the need for a challange I'd take up origami. Papers cheaper than a subscription and PC upgrades:aok
