I have an assistant named Charity that is pretty hot and goes by another name when she is doing customer service calls.
Well... A business associate of the bosses walks in about 20 minutes ago, when she was telling a customer her "other name" and when he is introduced to her... he asked her if that was her stripping/stage name as well. OUCH!!
Well... she just left my office telling me that she is pissed. I'm going to hear more from her on this, I'm sure.
Also, when this bellybutton asked her that, the owner of my company was standing right there and he just walked away.

Why does she have another name? Is she a stripper or something? ;)
BTW, when I'm doing my customer calls, I go by the name, "Dirk Diggler".

It is fairly common in call centers to not use your name, stalkers and all, hell I have had guys refuse to the point they said they would quit to give out their last name.
We stopped letting them us fake names were I work because techs were using dif ones each call to make it harder to track them being rude lol.
I have always used my real name. I have even gotten death threats. No one has followed through :)
I do have an unlisted phone number and address though.
Someone wants to come after me? I am big and mean, and I work support so I am pissed at the time too! :D

I use my real name. Heck, it's even in my sig. I figure its the only way I'll ever have any groupies to call my own. :D

Watch out for those groupies, Skuzzy. I've had to council a few junior techs about those IT groupies.
This was after we had one poor fellow get into some serious trouble over a girl. Seems she didn't take him not visiting her during and after work anymore very well.

Been there, done that,..sort of. Almost had to get a restraining order to keep her away. And she was a lawyer. OY!

I'd tell her to grow a thicker skin...
"I understand your annoyance with the guy, however; unless you think you can prove the guys question was meant to demean or harrass you for being a woman, I doubt you've got anything more than a stupid question to deal with here. On the other hand, should this guy carry on in the same vein the next time you run into him, I'd like to hear about it immediately and you can count on my assistance in pursuing the matter to your satisfaction."
-
Guess your guy never took the class called "How not to Piss Women off at Work and get fired". I think the code name for it is S@xual Harrasment training.......:)

unlikely a single incident would create a lawsuit--I mean a winnable suit, they could always file.
usally need a pattern of behavior.
-
well I'm not a lawyer or anything moose nore do I know what kind of business you are in BUT:
title 47 code of federal regulations, part 64, subpart L Restrictions on Telephone Solicitation
"A person or entity making a telephone solicitation must provide the called party with the name of the individual caller, the name of the person or entity on whose behalf the call is being made, and a telephone number or address at which the person or entity may be contacted."
Doesnt excuse the guy being an ****** though.

It's only sexual harrasment if she finds you unattractive.

There are 2 Tom's in our office, one of which is me. When I say "office", I mean a 20' counter with 3 computers on it (2 in my end of the "office"). I spend some time there, but am outside sales primarily, while the other Tom runs the office and does dispatch.
When either of us answers the phone and the person asks for "Tom", the standard reply is, "Are you Happy or Mad?". The answerer takes the Happy people, and passes the pissed off people down to (the other) "Tom". Regular customers know our voices, of course.
When telemarketers call for the "owner or manager", we tell them that he is out, but that he, "Gus Rodreiquez" (an ex-employee who was a nice guy but a waste of flesh) is on the other line, on vacation, etc. We end up wasting way more of their time than they do ours, and get to enjoy the humor of the situation as well.
Not too far of topic, I hope.

So does this mean there's no chance of getting boobie pics?
-
Ermmm, hold on, the guy who asked her wasn't an employee or employer of the company, so its not sexual harassment, just another filthy customer.

yep thought the same when I saw this post but if the boss allowed it then there could be something. But if it is a 1 time remark I doubt she would have 2 feet to stand on in court.
-
She really doesn't have a claim against the employer. The idiot isn't an employee of the company so she can't get him fired. She also can't sue the boss because someone who does not work for him said someting pretty stupid. The bos is responsible for his employees not for visitors. She "might" be able to get a court order but I think it would have very shakey grounds on a one time situation. If the boss continues to allow this twit to bother her she will have a claim for allowing a hostile workplace environment.
-
He should go up to her..all sheepish, and looking all apologetic and say..
"I guess a lapdance is out of the question?"

Or if she likes you or not (friend) or if she is pissed at you or in some other "mood"
Unfortunately thats pretty much how it works too.
I once got called in for asking a chick if she was "Pregnant again??"
She was. For the 6th year in a row that I knew her. Hence the "Again??'
But because or at least near as I can figure. she was upset with me because I didnt let her have her way a week before.(phone conversation) She decided to complain about it.
I had forgotten all about the conversation where she wanted something done right now and I couldnt do it due to lack of manpower and higher priorities. Prior to that we got along just fine. Hell she even used to tell me off color jokes from time to time.
So a week or so later I see her walking through the hall and its obvious shes pregnant....again and I ask the question. She just shoots me a dirty look and walks away. Next thign you know Im in the bosses office. then in her bosses office.
Each wanted me to apologise which I refused to do over somethign so rediculous.
Her boss called her in at which point she denied complaining about me harrasing her saying that it just bothered her that I would ask that. I just shook my head and left.
Like the wise man once said
"Never trust anything that can bleed for 7 days and not die"
