last night 1hr how la7 and niki dweeb newbie planes, of course most thos in conversation fly la7 and niki but complain others do.
My k/d against niki and la7 our 36 kills to 4 deaths this tod. i have more kills of niki and la7 with il2 alone than all kills of me.
So tell me again why la7 should be perked? Oh wait thats right guys who fly la7 don't want others to catch them :)
-
I know what you mean. I'm no ace, not even a fair "stick" - but my KPD shows La is not a plane to be feared.
I worry more abou the good pilots, who tend to be in "off brand" planes.
As I see it, all the whining comes from 2 things --
1) If you don't get the merge right, and hit em before they run, the La will get away. If you are cognitively challenged enough to keep chasing a running La, it can be darn frustrating.
2) The Nik can turn well enough that a mediocre pilot can get a shot off, and the guns off both the Nik and the La can make you REALLY hurt if you make a mistake.
So both ways, these planes hurt those pilots who think they should be good enough to win a lot, but who dont fly well enough to kill quickly and stay out of the cone of fire.
When I die to these planes, i deserve it -- I got into a messy situation or I made a mistake. Nothing to whine about, something to learn from. :aok
-
yea, im no ace either...yea i got more kills against both than they against me...but i still think la7 needs perked to limit useage...not its "uberleetness"
and no, i dont fly la7 or niki...
-
No need to perk Nikis and Lalas. It'd be enough to compel guys using those fighters to wear a skin with big dweeb markings on wings and fuselage.
-
plane performance comes at a price. Look at the ki-84 and zero. They had the best performance of there times. But they were made out of aluminum so they could get shot down with a few 50 cal rounds.. The La5fn was made out of untreated plywood and canvas. The La7 the same but it had a bit more aluminum in its design. Performance comes at a price.
-
Dweeb is a way of life, not the plane you fly. personally i dont fly la7s or n1ks but i still reserve the right:)
i dont understand either why people call others dweebs because of the plane they fly. this behavior is all over the MA. the funny thing is, i've noticed some people calling others dweebs for flying "so and so" plane, meanwhile they are flying to airbases and only vulching the runway while there is still an air to air battle going on, or running from a fair fight, ack hugging, or waiting for a few buddies to show up before engaging 1 plane. Not to mention fly the planes they are calling dweeb planes.
Granted la7 is better plane for the dweeb, but the real dweebs are those mentioned above.
:)
-
Old news pluck.
Do like I do. Fly everything there is and shoot everything you can down. An LA7 is just another target.
Imagine what'd be like if there where no targets.

The LA7 is most definatly a plane to be feared. Problem is most of those who fly it are not to be feared.
Like you said it's the guy behind the stick you need to worry about. When I see a P40 in the area I don't think easy kill, I think caution. A newb isn't upping a p40 in the MA too often.
If you perk the LA7 the "deewbs" will just up the next non-perked plane they believe they can servive and get kills in. Then what, perk that plane too?
-
Few steps towards a solution to the abundance of La7's in the MA:
1. Have this site (forum link) & netaces.org prominently displayed on the MA's MOTD. Have this pop up every time you log in. It will get more players into the BB and into netaces. This can only help them experience different planes, or at the very least help them gain the confidence to stick around and try in their La7/Nik/whatever instead of shoot & scooting.
2. Have more people who constantly complain about the La7 or Niki stop wasting time complaining about it, and putting their time to good use by making guides to other planes. Not the usual, "Mustang is a BnZ'er", but the "Mustang can be a BnZ'er but can also TnB and here are some tips for how to do it."
3. More films in different planes from people who are sick and tired of seeing same planes. Explain how you did what.
Follow these three steps for a few months and I'd bet you'd see more variety in plane choice, and more effort in fight attempts.
-
Yes. Perk this, perk that, yet no one listens to me: PERK THE HURRICANES!!! Hey, even i can get kills in those... they must be *uber*....
Im not scared of LaLas. Unless they are flown by certain pilots. But then, id be scared what ever they fly.
Perk the pilots?
Seriously. La is one of the best overall performance planes, but the line perked - unperked *has* to be somewhere. So it was drawn above the La. Live with it.
And people will never stop calling others 'dweeb' and 'noob' and 'vulcher' and all kinds of other nice things. Human ego is a funny thing.
My experience in MA is, the way you treat other people, the way they treat you themselves. So I mainly ignore those whose attitude doesnt suit me. If I dont like those I fly with or against, I simply pick another fight. Or i log and see whats going on in H2H. You can have nice furball with good fights there as well. Works fine for me.
And the others, friend or foe, i get along with pretty good. Theres tons of class acts out there as well.

I love the la7. I HO, run, spit and cuss in it. I enjoy letting a spit think I'm going to turn with him only to go screaming to the deck leaving him in the dust. Then to see him cry on ch200 just completes it all lol. I always tell them the wambulance is otw! It's a real hoot, you should all try it.

oh, don't get me wrong, not complaining at all. more of just commenting on what appears to be an old trend. Just think if you are going to call someone a dweeb, better make sure you're not doing the exact same thing, or worse-lol
i don't care what anyone flies, im just here to have fun, shoot planes down, and enjoy a few good furballs.

angering, irratateing, or confuseing your oponent when ever possible tends to makes em do stoopid stuff...........

Schatzi!!!!!!! You the Man!! He has the answer!!!!!! Perk the pilots!!!!!! Best IDEA yet!!! charge them to fly no matter what plane there in!! lol!! :) If you have more kills then..... ummm 40 your perked, more kills higher perk. ( I hardly get 30 so im clear) ha! .. See it pays to be a lousy pilot after all!)
Then as these bad arse killas ( and you know who you are) are flying around it would make them a bit, less aggressive , Have the tag read PPspt or PPla7 PP= perked pilot. and that way people like me could scare them with HO shots, thinking they dont wana lose they perk pilot there flying,.. only until they loop over and kill me. :( Perk them like they are me 262's!. lmao!
even funnier would be when the eny stuff kicks in. doh!
I think Schatzi and I will start a petition to get this enacted, We'll need at least 5 guys to sign it to get it on ballot! Worth a shot, eh? hehe!
1. Tactic <--- theres 1 signature. do I see 2?
lol!!!

No Dud, I was merely using that brutally honest time as an example.
If anything perk the skinny guys cause perking the fat guy would get me in the mix.

Ah, no, I guess you wouldnt tactic.

This is a serious problem, since poeple don't like fighting each other anymore very much.

Thing i hate bout niki is it cannon rounds can hit deadly at 800 feet. I just dont see how the niki cannons can do that and they come out slower than the typhy rounds, and the typhy cant do that.
-
The only time I blow it with a N1K of La7 anymore is when I cut my Ole! barral roll too close when they try to HO me or when I cut my turning evasive too close as they pull in on my 6.
I hate HurriC's because of how deceptive they are in the accuracy and reach of those 4 hizzooocas............
I cannot imagine how anyone can worry so much about lala'a or niki's. You wanna get over it? Hunt only them in furballs untill they become boaring. It will amaze you just how many poor sticks actually fly them. I hunt them with a spitV now for grins and giggles.
-
lol! schatzi!! ok lets raise that 30 to ,..oh 681/2 there now maybe im clear. lmao!!!!!!
PS.. ahem.... did i the a gender incorrect? if i did,, sorry :( ...I cant tell by a name. thats if . im reading things in your post right. Im so confused!!!

I don't think anyone *fears* the la7. I think they are 99% sure how the fight will go. Two passes then chasing a smoking la7 for 3 sectors. I think N1k1's are usually a good fight. I don't see those run very much.
-
Ive had TBMs run from me. So heres what i do. Move on and find another target. The 'runner' either comes back, or he doesnt.
Tactic, check the 71 Sqn homepage. You might find answers there.
http://www.71sqn.co.uk/
-
JetB, the reason that cannons work so well at long distances is because they are HE ( high explosive ). Your not just using the actual kinetic energy of the bullet your adding the explosives too, notcie when you destroy ack guns that you just have to get close, the explosive charge does the rest... Now I don't think a N1k1 should be able to reach out and touch ya at 800, heck most people cant hit anything with the hispanols at that range, on the Hurri C and the C-Hog I usually try and get them at least under 400 before I open fire, of coarse I'm sure I'll try and save more ammo than the average newbie who is looking for that 1 kill... Anything IMO over say 4-500 would be a lucky shot, again IMO
-
I fly the P38J allot and can sometimes put it on em at 800 but thats with centerline guns that are all in the nose.
-
Course you have to find another target. But thats why a lot of people gripe. They know if they drop their drop tank for an la7, its probably for nothing. Theres nothing more frustrating than being in a sector with a 1 inch dar bar and ditching bingo fuel and full ammo :(
-
well the 3 guys complaining last night avg about anywhere from 64% of fighter kills in la7 and niki to atleast 35%. But here they are on 200 complaining that others who fly la7 and niki are either dweebs or newbies.
What I like to do when guy complains about la7 i go chk his score 9 out of ten he will be a la7 and niki pilot......... come back in tell them thier flying la7 and watch them try to lie say only once awhile or hardly ever ............................g ot to love this GAME
-
38J had nose mounted guns. They dont have convergance issues. I can see them hitting at 800, and when im flying it, Im only firing 50cals at 800. Just to make the bogey get scared and turn I dont fire cannons till someone is close range 400 to me, and I know im gonna hit.
-
I've been playing long enough to know that 90 percent of the time I die, its not because the other guy was flying a better plane than me, he's just a better more experienced pilot than me. In reality when you break it all down, its not the plane that gets the kill, its the pilot. Heck I could fly around all day in a 262 and not even come close to a 2 to 1 k/d ratio. Whenever I die, its because I made a mistake or the other guy just out flew me most ( 90 percent ) of the time. Theres the occasional time that some shmuck rams me or something like that, yeah I get mad, but I don't go on ch 200 typing dweeb and ho and stuff like that, I just assume the guy either messed up or he is new. Of coarse Im allot nicer to the newer guys than allot of some of the other players are... I like newbies because I can actually shoot them down lol. I think if everybody would go back and think of how confused they were when they 1st started they would cut some of these guys some slack, heck when I fisrt started I couldn't get the vbox to work, had no clue about what any of these planes were or were good at. I just basically had no clue, but 6 months later I can tell u any loadout on any plane, tell you which one is fater at say 10,000 ft, which one can climb, what type of convergance to use, everything... And I know I picked everything up alllot quicker than most newbies do because I had some experience with these type games. Just remember everybody was a newbie or dweeb at one point or another, cut the guys some slack
-
same way here Jet, I just do it to piss em off at that range, try and get em to turn or start jinking, anything to slow em down and make em messup... I'm a 400 D type person, of coarse I have watched Pellik scratch em at 1000 plenty of times... so it can be done lol

They weren't much of a threat in AW, and from what I've seen here so far, they're just a nuisance. If you know they're there, when almost in guns range, jink a bit and they blow right by. They're too fast to cause a real problem :)
-
N1K2 is a plane that used to be good but these days it an oldschool clubbed baby seal.
-
... because there's not much the average MA plane can do against a LA7 when it's flown by a half descent stick. If you don't know that, you probably don't fly a P47 much.
-
Reason #'s are skewed in favor of more experience pilot is because its a noobs choice plane being that it out performs 90% of the other a/c. And noobs are ez kills no matter what they are in. Once you learn to stay above it or behind, then its just another target.
-
i once killed a F4U4 in a P40B does that mean that we should not perk the F4U4 because the stick behide it was no good?
we should base it on the plane not whos behide the stick

Now you're begin to understand it has nothing to do with the planes. This type of flight sim has been around in some form for tha past 17 years or so. During that time people have come and gone. One thing that hasn't changed is the learning curve is very high for this game. One thing that has changed is the actual numbers in an arena. Combine the two of these parts and you will find an very difficult flight environment.
To go a little more in depth you will find most of the whines about perking planes are from those that are about half way along the steep learning curve. They haven't quite figured out just how to chase down a laffie or other plane but they have come along enough so they can get some kills every once in a while if they can get into a fight.
Then you have the noob's in the laffies, etc. In the old days we called this kind of player an alt monkey or sputnik. Back then they were typically flying high mustangs. Some folks called them runstangs. Some were just that but what alot of folks didn't understand was you need a little turning room to fight. Evenually they began to differentiate between the two because if a pony reversed or you and ate your lunch...well you know the rest.
The noob, on the other hand, has tried every possible thing he's learned to that point and thinks "hey, if I stay high and fast I won't get killed, maybe." They even make a high speed pass on someone, every once in a while, if they think they might get away with it. But, they know if they turn into the fight they died.
IMHO it's a training issue. If 25% of the players have been around and learned how to fight, and 50% of the players are now in that middle group who can fly some and get kills from time to time, and the last 25% are the noob's who are just trying to stay alive and not all that worried about kills right now, then you could have 40-50% of all flyers thinking the same two thoughts....
1) how can I stay alive and maybe one day land a kill
2) how can I catch that laffie in my spit. Everything I try doesn't work.
Unfortunately, the 40% group thinks they are good enough to do anything and just don't understand they still need to learn. Will they get the training? Not if they don't look for it and probably not because they think they're good enough.
The 25% of older guys who've flown for a long time could care less what plane they see in the arena. If the guys is withn range and wants to fight they are happy to oblige. If not, there are a lot molk folks who do want to fight.
As you can see it has nothing to do with the planes but this topic will surface again and again because of the frustation.

Unless Pellik or another really good pilot that have good sniping skills. I only use it to vulch and shoot bombers, sometimes use it just to mess with the enemy but cant really do much as far as A to A combat, but have seen good pilots get allot of kills in them only shooting 2-3 rounds per kill
-
When I had just signed up on here ( few months back) I asked the usual question on here RE: best plane to learn in.
The overall response was one of the spits, I got really frustrated flying it as I was killed on a regular basis while folks just zipped by in the more sexier planes (Still am getting killed on a regular basis lol).
Only now am I beginning to learn the basics, of turning and SA etc, I honestly think that if I had started of in an La7 that it would have done me no good.
I have tried the la7, niki and all the rest, but still think the spit has more to offer newbs like me in terms of learning the basic acm stuff. If all you learn is dive, climb and run away then you are not getting the most out of AH.
The la7 is a great plane in the right hands, but guys like me will be toast in one of those things in a straight fight as I don't know how to fly it.
All I do is try my best and have some fun.
Cheers guys

Don't be silly don't perk the LA7 or the Niki
Perk the ammo:rofl They can fly it all day for free just need to buy ammo:aok J/K as long as i have read the BBs this has been a hot topic I'm glad it never dies:D
I say perk ch 200 you only get 25 words a night then you pay for more :D That will give just enough words to say something nice like "Lucky Punk" "HO Dweeb" "LGay Dweeb" "Ect..." :rofl
-

This is total and utter BS. A well flown 262 can kill anything it wants whether they see it or not.
-
Im gonna have to agree there......
Hey Vegas.....have the tires melted off your car from the heat out there? So glad I moved out of Phoenix. WHat was the temp yesterday? 150? 190?
-
yeah but the heat out there is dry, i know its still very hot, but I live in fort worth, been over 100 the past week or so, the heat doesnt bother me, its the humidity, omg u cant walk out the front door without breaking a sweat, feels like you need to walk around with an oxygen mask on lol

If I choose to not engage you but only to avoid you, you'll run out of gas before you get a kill. Unless you find a way to fly slowly :)
I've never been killed by a 262 I knew was there and I've been a dweeb since AW :)
