So there I was, staring at the WW2OL box on the shelf of my local Best Buy, and it was on sale for $29.99. "Well, it has been a while since I've seen a real beta release fiasco(think Red Baron II), what the heck?" and I purchased it, knowing full well how awful it was going to be. Even though I had promised myself I wouldn't support the rats until they got their toejam together, something compelled me to buy. I think I was more curious that anything.
I decided not to upgrade my 256MB of RAM right away, and instead see how it ran with what I have now. My system:
Abit BE6-II
PIII 550E O/C'd to 733mhz
256MB Kingston PC-100 RAM
Hercules Prophet DDR-DVI 32MB GeForce
SB Live!
Win98SE
DX8.0a
@Home cable modem
After downloading the 67 MB patch, I started the game, and sure enough, about a 4 min load time. I had to play in 800x600 16 bit with everything turned off to get a decent fps, so I only played a little offline that night.
Next morning, I went out and against my better judgement picked up another 256MB stick of Kingston RAM. Plopped it into my motherboard, and things got better for old WW2OL.
Luckily for me, the 111 patch was released on Saturday morning, so that, combined with my RAM upgrade, helped things out considerably. Initial load time is down to less than 2 mins, and once I'm in the arena, load times are not a problem, just 10 seconds or so.
My take on it so far after a little flying, tanking and grunting:
It is still beta code, and ugly, unoptimzed beta code at that. Played at 800x600x16, it's just plain butt ugly. At the higher resolutions, it's starting to look pretty good, all things considered.
Tanking is fun, and well done. Being a grunt is fun, too. The flying aspect of the game is pretty pathetic compared to AH, but to be fair it is still beta code. I'm not sure if it's my own ignorance, or a lack of documentation, but I cannot get my USB CH Combatstick to work in the game, and I couldn't find any documentation on how to do so. So for now, I'm back using my old gameport Combatstick.
As far as the community aspect goes...right now there are so many little boys running around with potty motuhs, it's not even funny. Hopefully this will improve with time.
In a nutshell, things are better with the latest patch, but it's still not ready for prime time, in my opinion. I'll let you know more detail about my fps, if I can figure out how to turn that on on my FE.
From what I've seen so far, I don't think AH and WW2OL are/will be competing for the same player base, which is a good thing.
-
So, you basically had to pay almost $100 (or more) to play a toejamty game? Nice one!
"Stupid is as stupid does." :p
-
Mike, I didn't have to, I chose to. :)
You have to remember that it has been a while since I've upgrade anything on my PC, so I was looking for an excuse to buy something.
And, warts and all, I think I'll actually enjoy playing the ground war over there.
For those who can't afford to plunk down $100 right now for more RAM, I'd wait for another patch to address the memory issues, then it may be playable with 256.

"I think I'll actually enjoy playing the ground war over there."
That's about my take too, once it's at the level it should be to be regarded as out of beta and stabilised. Although I might take a plane up when dealing with ground warfare complexities get too be too much ;)

I ordered a 256Mb PC133 DIMM of Micron memory from Paradise PC in Texas for $37.00.
Even after the $9.00 UPS ground charge, that is far below $100.00.
I'll see how it changes things next week.

Westy did you ever play falcon with a guy in Mass named denis phelon?

Not I Hog. I've not played anything in RL or computer-wise that had a name with 'Falcon' in it. Always been a prop kind of guy.

Hog,
I went to UPT with a wildman named Dennis Phelan?
Can this be the same guy? I'd love to get in touch with him again.
Think he was one of the early F-117 cadre....
-
Karnak do you have a stock/part number on that?
All I see on their site is this:
SDRAM PC133 256MB 32x64, 7.5ns, Micron Brand Price $127.00
Micron brand chips with a lifetime warranty.
-
Be thankful you ain't dealing with PC800 RDRAM.
-
You want low memory prices? Or anything else? Go to www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)
Right now 512 MB pc133 ram has dropped to $55 (several competing companies are all below $60). These kind or prices are not openly advertised (usually special online or phone prices via mentioning the website, or in the case of Computer Craft, a link to a different website with all of the majorly reduced prices that is otherwise the same as the published website).

Num Lock for fps.
-
StreakEagle, be careful and make sure you read the fine print when you order from the lowest bidder off pricewatch. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten most of my gear off there for the past year and saved alot of money, but you have to be sure your getting what you think your ordering.
For instance, on the cheap 512 megs SIMMS of memory for around $60 there are a few caveats.
1.) Its high density memory in most cases, which means that if you have an older motherboard, it will read and function as 256 megs of RAM.
2.) Its not suitable for Athlon systems and high end PIII systems. On alot of systems it won't even run, and even on the systems it will boot, it will be consistently unstable.
Just about every site I looked at, had these issues in fine print, but you had to read closely. Almost every one of them also stated that compatibility was the responsibility of the buyer.
Just a few words of warning. :)
FYI I know about this because I just ordered on Friday a 512meg SIMM for my 1.3Ghz Tbird system, from a site I found on pricewatch. I ended up paying $85 + shipping for SIMM that was certified and guaranteed compatible for Athlon systems.

Boy and I thought the posts on AirWarriorMv vs Ace's High was bad! We can have like a IROC race of sim's, AirWarrior vs Aces High vz WW2OL vs WarBirds.
Ding! Ding! Let's get ready to rumble!
Dang! Look! There go's a virgin EWE running into the bush's! Ok I got to beat Ripsnort to her! :p

Well, thanks to those that supplied the keystroke to get my fps on the FE GUI, I'm back to report that I was getting anywhere from 12-32 fps last night playing as a German infantryman, at 1280x1024x32. Surprisingly, those fps were very playable, and I actually had fun, too. I really have no interest in the air war over there with the current progress of the game, so I'm happy being a ground pounder. Got my first kill last night, too. Some poor Tommy was trying to sneak up on our base, but I saw him before he could get into cover. I raised my Mauser, aimed, squeezed. He rolled over and lay still. May he rest in peace.
I was playing on server 6 last night, and while it had fewer people on than the others, there were no profanity or tantrums for once, and the folks were cooperating to some extent. The sector I was in seemed to have about 20 people near me, both for and against, so it was like a small skirmish between two squads. I can really see where being in a squad is going to be a blast, as you can do mixed unit attacks and defense.
Can't wait for the rats to keep fixing this.

Uhm, not because it's locked Staga... did you even bother READING what it was about?
"People" defending other "people" because these so-called "people" want to keep the ability to name their in-game personas as "JewKilla" or "NeoNazi", crap like that.
Sorry, the worst that AH could be, it's never been that bad.
-SW
-
I'm still wondering how Staga can compare the topics that have gotten locked here because they got personal with the obscene abominations like that topic on the WW2O boards? And that's not the only topic like that on the WW2O boards.
If the insinuation is that the AH boards are on the same level as the WW2O boards why do so many folks discuss WW2O here and try to coordinate with other gamers via posts in non WW2O boards? Especially those who have quit AH and WB's. Why are they not on the WW2O forumns rubbing elbows with thier fellow WW2O players on the CRS boards?
I dare say the WW2O boards could use some of that energy and enthusiasm to combat the reports of hacks, cheats and a mountain of other game/social interaction issues.

I believe 9 out of 10 of those who use names like NeoNazi are just trolling and are laughing their arses off right now. That last one is propably a 12 years old kid who was beaten by his parents and found pals from "Bad Company inc." or from local KKK's kids club.
Those topics are so full of crap I wonder how you guys even use time to read them? When I saw that topic I skipped it 'cause I already knew what it contains:
90% bs and 10% foolish people.

Toad,
Look at the System Memory prices here: www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)
That is where I located that price.
I had to call the shop in Texas and mention the pricewatch price in order to get it.
-
Well I for one said I wouldn't try it till after the summer but Kieren had it and said it was worth a look so I bought it.
First off I have
PIII 733
256 pc800 rdram
NVIDIA Geforce 2 64m
I have been reading the boards and just knew I was going to hate it.
Well to my suprise I like it. I am actually getting 25-95 fps. Yes I said 95 fps. Most times it's in the mid 30s but when no one is around and I'm a soldier I have gotten 95fps.
I have always enjoyed tanks so having so many tank battles is really great.
There are some bugs that need to be worked out but for now it is playable AND is a lot of fun.
It's not a flight sim nor will it ever be on the level of AH but for what it is it's going to be great. :D
-
I disagree Staga on them being trolls. Some are going along with it to get attention, some because they are misguided and there are a lot that really think that sh&t is cool and they actually believe alot of the baloney spouted.
I think WW2O wil get a respite from some of it when they go pay-to-play. But after that, trolls or not, that kind of behavior and posting will be even more detrimental to WW2O as it wil lhave a more negative financial impact. It would for any online game.

I stopped reading the general WWIIOL board a long time ago. Just was a plain unsettling experience. I was kinda nervous about the game itself, but pleasantly surprised to see that the radio buffer is nothing like that at all. There isn't much cooperation as of yet, but it's improved somewhat. I haven't had a tank not stop for me when I asked for a ride. They'll even wait for a few minutes for you to catch up on foot. I think the strategy will get better as people understand the game more. I'm sure there will always be Quakers running around, but some units will form and stand out eventually. Other than the FM in the air and the small town sizes, flying is pretty fun. If they fix the E-rentention issues, dogfighting would be feel a lot better. As it is, sometimes I'll just follow the bandit in a 5G turn for what seems like minutes before he does something different. Some hit flashes or something would be nice as an indicator as to whether you're hitting (they have them in tanks. I can tell when my AP rounds hit enemy tanks). Well, the planes do smoke when they're damaged. Last night was the first time I've actually seen a plane I hit go all the way down to the ground and explode. Every other kill was either a pilot dying from a wound, or them disco'ing (intentionally or not.) I've died just once (at night, I never saw him coming. Just was flying around and all of a sudden, red screen!!) and been wounded another time; that one really cheesed me off. The plane started acting funny, but I didn't think I was damaged, because I wasn't hearing ping sounds. Then screen goes red for a moment, I see I'm wounded, so I bug out. I decide to just land anywhere, so I lower flaps and gear... NO SOUNDS!!! Turns out I had a bandit on me, but external sounds weren't working (my engine and gun sounds were fine, but flaps, gear, being hit, other planes were out), so I couldn't hear I was being hit. He musta been my true lo 6, because I was checking my 5 and 7 views quite often. Had I heard the initial ping, I woulda known he was back there. I had to exit the game to get external sounds back. Point of all of this is, you guys know I'm not that good in AH, but I'm surviving every sortie but those 2 (I've flown over 10 now...) For the most part, the enemies remind me of a quote for Star Trek II. "He is a genius, but his tactics show 2 dimensional thinking..." They flat turn 95% of the time and just go round and round. The immersion is still fun though! I'm enjoying that aspect of flying in WWIIOL more than the MA, but the AH weekend events are still what I look forward to every week!
-
Staga - I still can't see how you can compare the AH boards with those on WW2OL.
If someone played the game with the handle 'jewkilla' in AH, do you think a post complaining of that fact would get flamed in a thread 150 posts long?
You're living in cloud-cuckoo-land, if you do.
I might also add that these boards are an oasis of calm compared to its WW2OL contemporary. Personally, there are only so many times I can read the word 'fanboy', 'whiner', f***, S*** etc etc etc. It's tiring to the point of terminal boredom.
I ask myself whether or not I want to be in an arena filled by the kind of people we see on the boards. Arm-chair generals, with chips on their shoulders as big as their over-bearing egos telling people how they should play the game. At least that kind of person is in the minority over here.
My copy of the game is on its way, by the way. I just hope I can find some normal, balanced, everyday and above all decent lads to play the game alongside. Kind of like my MA squad here.
My two pennies worth, of course.
PS. that usenet post Westy posted is just plain scary. What is wrong with these people? I just hope they AREN'T kids - because they must be pretty screwed up if they are.
-
Dowding, I think you'll find that the radio buffer does not resemble the playnet forums at all. At least that's been my experience. :) Hope you enjoy your game time!

I've found "Radio chatter" in wwiiol sometimes very refreshing, There's lots of funny guys joking and best of all there's no ch.1 :)

Got the 512MB of PC133 in 3 days from Paradise. Installed same, works fine, system recognizes all of it. Fairly inexpensive @ $89.
Now using O/C Celeron @850, 512 MB RAM and GeForce2, cable modem.
Running in the 800 resolution still. Perhaps a small decrease in the loading time of WW2OL. Much faster through the lead in screens. Nearly as fast as AH there.
Aircraft are now flyable, with FPS ranging from about 38-39 to 16-18 in heavy traffic areas. Not as smooth as I'd like, nor as good as AH was with just 192 MB RAM (previously) but at least playable. Other functions, like pulling up in-flight map is much faster also.
Also noticed more detail in a few areas. Before tracers were nearly invisible, now they are merely hard to see well. Dropping to belly-button view of instrument panel now shows a needle in the fuel gauge where none existed before.
Haven't fooled around much, probably more next week. Just too busy this weekend.
The only enemy a/c I found and saddled tonite apparently discoed shortly after the tracers started hitting. Coincidence? Common? Don't know.
I'll hold off on the FM opinions except for one comment. Had AH been released with an FM like this I think some of the proponents of "true realism" that have since left AH in dispair/disgust would have flamed HT and Pyro unceasingly from day one.
The current AH N1K2 is an absolute dog compared to any of the current WW2OL aircraft, Stuka included.
So, anyway, it does seem that 512 MB makes a lot of difference in WW2OL. A lot.
But not to AH. It runs about the same FPS as it did. Perhaps optimized is optimized.
-
HTC know their toejam when it comes to optimization.
I'm still awed when I think of how well Ah runs on my c533, 128mb ram, considering all the stuff that has to be done.
I was suspicious to the extreme when i downloaded a game that was only *18* megs. How could it be any good?
Yeh, these guys know what they're doing.
CRS have a lot of what we here call "slam coders" producing inefficient spaghetti code it seems.
HTC have chefs producing an excellent menu :)
NOTE TO WWIIOL CHEERLEADERS:
First, go away. I don't like you, and I've heard it all before. Secondly, this is about the quality of the code, not the quality of the game. There. Now. Piss off.

No doubt AH is optimized and runs smoothly. But don't forget that lots of stuff in AH is generic - that's why the small download.
- sounds: generic and juiceless (user contribution helped out bigtime! another 30MB but worth every bit! <S> to the makers! (everyone who is bashing FScott at the moment shouldn't forget this fact!!!)
- no ground objects: except a few buildings at airfields and facilities; few details to terrain in general (still don't get it why no user terrains accepted for MA?? there are some GREAT works out there!!!); also practically no groundwarfare
- much less players; and anyone who attended BIG missions knows how AH suffers from loads of people at the same place
- nice individual clouds but still lacking layers; plus performance drops significantly in smoke and clouds!
AH has lower system demands because it has less to demand...
WW2O far from optimized - a big RAM sucker right now... but also many, many things computed, rendered...
One for SW: You remember the SS squad in AH? And how people defended its right to be here?? It's mostly credit to some german pilots that the name was changed!! There are morons in every game - and if you look at some of the "RL off topic"- threads there are fascistoid tendecies on this board that I fear more than someone called "Jewkilla" (poor idiot)...
-
Even a simple AH small airfield has nearly as many objects as a smallareainnorthereuropeIIonl ine city. Never did see the great thing they accomplished here. It's basically the same setup, with a couple more objects and a lot worse base terrain, and limited long range visibility.
AH suffers from a load, to a point, but you can still fight in a furball of 50 planes over two enemy fleets (the things that WWII advertises on the box), and the occasional jerk will still be a suprise instead of the expected. That's not just a little bit better than StutterIIOnline, that's a year ahead of them at least given present rate of improvement (remember these two games are basically the same age).
-
Uhm Fatty... the cities, yet better towns - have quite some objects - no RL towns for sure but a dozen buildings alone, AI defense (e.g. acks in AH), supply barrels and stuff, etc... (ok, the airfields just a round area of mowed grass, but that's quite historical for most fields in France) but what I was referring to are all the objects on the ground everywhere: every tree is a solid object where u can crash into, bridges, telephone poles, railways, rails, traffic signs - all objects not just ground clutter...
I took the following picture on a Panzer patrol just because I liked the view...
-
Sort of like the cities in AH, but a lot less buildings :)
-
Lol Kirin! Man - if yer trying to make some kind of a point, help yourself and do NOT post any more of these terrible screenshots!
bridges, telephone poles, railways, rails, traffic signs - all objects not just ground clutter
And how's yer framerate? Any warping? Any invisible troops? CTD at all?
Glad they could throw in all these elements and still manage to pull off smooth game play.
Oh... and railways? Cool - I think HTC are adding trains in the next version. Can you post a pic of the trains in WWIIOL so I'll get an idea of what to expect?
[ 06-24-2001: Message edited by: Nash ]
-
Heheh, Fatty, Nash - ease down... ;) I am not trying to slaughter any of your holy cows! Just saying there is a lot of detail in the WW2O world!
Nash, railways I've seen - trains not yet. But I've seen trainstations!
For your questions:
- framerate not great but playable - around 20 in fights
- I've seen very little (to none) warping in close dogfights, sometimes when looking from a panzer our own 109s and Stukas warp around quite a bit... all in all not a prob (for me)
- invisible troops: yesterday a squaddie turned invisible for me (but only for me - enemy and friends saw him still ;) ) - might be a mix of connection issue, object limit etc... Haven't yet been really bothered by it - AH has some major invis in big missions and of course invi paras - in WW2O is complicated by the fact that planes see planes first, tanks see tanks first... so when loads of players around tanks can go invi for planes and vice versa
- CTD, since I have it installed, twice!
The best news in AH I find that finally some FM issues gonna be ironed out (couldn't care less about trains in a unhistorical, mixed country, mixed planeset, Furball-MA ;) )- AH isn't perfect, WW2O far from it!
The state WW2O is in at the moment I regard as open beta - free trial on hold and I payed the box gladly to support to Rats.
AH was missing lots of things when it went pay for play and I spent the 30 bucks per month gladly also...
-

Interesting you should say that, my friend. Let me ask you this:
Did HTC advertise included features and objects that were, not only not implemented, but are not going to be implemented for some considerable time?
As far as I know, they didn't. HTC were far more straight, honest and above all decent. They played the game by the rules.
-
Never said HTC promised anything they did not give - AH was missing features to be more complete, as it still does. AH one year ago was different from what we have now and still we pay the same price. Was the AH 1.0 the product we pay 30 bucks for and everything after that is free supplement or is the current state the product we get for 30 bucks and we payed more (relatively seen) for the first version to get this one complete? Honestly, I don't care! As long as I enjoy the product I pay for it!
I don't think the RATS want(ed) to cheat their customers nor did they lie deliberatly. Things just didn't go as well as planned and the mistake they made was to give out too much information too early (besides releasing too soon). HTC have much more experience in that department and now we all know why the answer is always "2 weeks" and why they only give away little information about future features. Better say nothing than a word too much. That's how you have to treat an immature audience. Because those people gonna pick on every word u once said and point out every detail that didn't go like advertised. Those people like to flame others on the boards and want to have everything for free.
Well, I am not one of them. I have good hopes for that special game and I trust its makers. Both HTC and the Rats put tremendous effort in their products and I don't think either of them wants to cheat their customers.
BTW, I am no cheerleader (by my definition of it) but being called it by people who fulfill that definition better!
Cheerleader: "X is the best, the others are all crap" "You say Y does this better, you are an idiot" "No, X is perfect, there are no errors in it" "If it's like this in X - it must be right"
-
Kirin, I'm not overly concerned/excited/yawning over wwiionline. I hope it survives a year or two til it's good enough for me to play it. On the other hand, to have post after post after post praising its greatness on the Aces High boards is getting old.
I think WWIIOnline in its present form quite simply sucks. It's not worth my time to even play for free. That's my opinion, and I'll put it in a thread on these boards when it's been brought up so many times I can't ignore it anymore. You won't, on the other hand, see me going over to the WWIIOnline boards posting in thread after thread about how great Aces High is either. You(all) will find you'd have about as much success as Rip when he gets on an AGW kick.
-
banana,
WW2OL has a bug regarding USB devices. Do you use any other USB devices in addition to the stick? If so, unplug everything that's USB b4 you run the game (if you've got a USB mouse you're screwed), make sure only the stick is plugged in and it should work fine, you can re-connect any other USB kit you have once the game is loaded and it'll work.
Now my turn on WW2OL......
The flight sim part of the game sucks. Totally. Flight models are plain weird, the gunnery will ruin your aim in Aces High and the view system sucks soooooo bad I dont wanna talk about it.
However, the ground war is damn good. Anyone who's seen WW2OL at a decent res will agree the terrain at ground level just looks superb. From 10,000ft it looks bloody awful though......visual range of the ground is about 10 miles which gives the world a 'cut off' look. Also, visual ID range for other aircraft is absolutely poxy, no range markers but I'd estimate the icon switches on at about 3,000ft away, which means absolutely NO-ONE gets any alt in WW2OL....cos they wouldnt see a damn thing. All air combat is at low level.......
Anyway, back to the ground war........damn they've done a good job on those tanks. Driving and gunning is just soooo much fun. Troopers are little anemic but you do get cool situations......like this one:
I spawned in Chimay as a British SMG soldier, there was an A13 cruiser just leaving so I sprinted alongside and hopped on (ya gotta get a lift, can take an hour to run between towns) but instead of heading for a German held town this guy headed for the German firebase a few miles north east of Chimay.
Well, we got there (another infantryman had jumped on as well) and as soon as we came around the treeline a pzr put an AP shell into the tank we were riding on......so we jumped off again quick. Just then a German Trooper came running out of the barracks.....dont on one knee, raised my SMG.....bam bam bam. One dead trooper. Well cool!
The other infantryman with me ran up to the panzer and emptied him SMG clip into the drivers view hole and the panzer just stopped.....didnt even shoot anymore.
Our tank still had it's gun so the tanker destroyed the FB with HE shells, then began to open fire on another panzer a little north east.....which returned fire, trouble is the first round musta been a HE shell cos I got wounded. The whole screen turned red and I collapsed in game, then slowly came round. Seriously cool.
Now right behind where this FB was was a big tree and some tall grass, so me and the other bloke crawled into this grass and let the tank battle carry on. So there I am, lying under this tree waiting to die.......but the bleeding stopped! All this time I was talking to the other infantry fella, I said he could have my tobacco tin after I was gone. ;) and then took it back cos I was gonna live. lol
Anyway, so we're camped out in the grass next to a road when I spots yet another panzer coming to the road, he turned onto the road and looked like he was gonna drive right past where I was hiding......great, raised my SMG again, hoping the commanders hatch would be open......but no, this damn panzer stops right in front of me and does a right turn, damn thing almost ran me over! :-) A trooper jumped down off the panzer, he got shot in short order. ;) Then we emptied SMG clips into the view holes of this panzer.
This went on for a while, until the germans realised that anything that went past this treeline got taken out and there were no allied tanks around........so they shelled the crap outta the treeline with HE shells. Didnt last long in that. :(
But it was seriously cool while it lasted.

Yeah man, I never did like friendly banter anyway.
For those that don't get it: If you are taking me seriously you really aren't playing with a full deck of cards.

Yeah I remember that "Waffen SS" squad, but I recall most people being against having a squad name like that. Especially since it doesn't pertain to anything we do here (no foot soliders... hence no Waffen SS).
Of course there are always going to be idiots, but I think that person that lead the "Waffen SS" in AH didn't stay for much longer than a month.

Oh hell, I do have a Logitech USB Marble trackman for a mouse.
But I'll try your workaround, I have other mice laying around. Thanks for the tip, mate! :)

My saitek and ch pedals are all USB and they don't have any problems with the game at all.
Flight model sucks without a doubt. I held a 5.5G flat turn for over 2 minutes, dragging 3-4 109's. They were almost using the same turn radius and rate as I was, at least that's what it looked like from my view. Didn't seem they were turning wider, but faster, than I was. Seemed like they were at the same speed, on the same path, as me. Point is, 2 minutes of this with no E-loss??? puh-leeeeeze!!!! I can't even pull a 5.5G flat turn in a Spit V on AH without some serious speed, and when I do, the E bleeds quickly! In WWIIOL, you only lose E when you chop the throttle and lower the flaps and gear. You lose speed in the vertical, but you're completely retaining E in the form of altitude. There's no loss of E, you can do infinite pure vertical loops it seems. I guess they only are modelling gravity, and not drag in normal flight. Only thing non-arcadish about the flight is taking off/landing in a Spit (109's seem to be infinitely easier to take off) and needing to trim the aircraft. They need to make some modifications before flying is realistic.
Actually, playing WWIIOL has improved my AH gunnery if anything.
Oh, and if this is considered cheerleading for WWIIOL... ;) I'm just telling it like I see it. The game -is- fun, just flying isn't very realistic, so I tend to do infantry and tanking more than flying.

Nifty,
the bug only exists if you're using a USB keyboard/mouse. I use a MS-PP2 USB stick, no problem at all cos I dont use any other USB devices.
As for E loss, yup, you're right. Cept when I set up for landing (140mph, close throttle, gear down, flaps down - and I NEVER use flaps in a spit) I over shot the field cos after 1/2 a mile with full left rudder I was still going 130mph. E loss? Bollocks, there isnt any.
banana,
no worries mate, anything else just ask, been a beta tester since last July. ;)

The problem with Waffen SS squad was not the name as some of you are saying now, but rather a squad comander playing nder "Zemke" nick or some other name of the Allied ace.
