with the new p47s and 51s comming out, will we be getting gyro gunsights? or will we still have the modified iron sights we have at present?
-
the K-14 was a license built British Ferranti sight, maybe we can see them on the AH Spits when they are redone too :)
-
will have to have a button to select wingspan and the such

id be happy just getting a new plane.
I wouldnt want anthing but the little dot I have now for a gun site telling me where my bullets are going to hit.

Waffle uses the K14 I think. For his sights.

Yup, I got the AH prototype :D

With range counters and ID type icons in AH a K-14 site would be some what redundant. You still have to get into range of your guns convergence.
In rl you get on a bad guy, id it, dial in that plane type to get range, track the target for several seconds or so to get accurate lead...
It would completly pointless. If you can get a .50 cal plane in side 600 yards and you don't even need a 'gun site' let alone one that 'calculates lead'.
Who's gonna fumble through all that just to site in a target?

Sorry to be so late joining this thread!
Yeah, some pilots retained the fixed graticule sight because they didn't want to have to track the target for the second or so that it took for the sight computer to adjust the amount of "aim off". However, for the "average" pilot, it was said that the gyro gunsight doubled his effectiveness. During tracking, the pilot had to set the wingspan of the target aircraft on the graticule so that the diamonds enclosed the enemy aircraft, allowing correct computation. A bit fiddly. Maybe an option to have or not to have would be an answer.
Probably better to learn how to judge correct deflection.

I would be content if we at least had a revi-sight...
As it is now head movement towards or away from the revi changes the absolute size of the aiming circle. This way the relation of circle size and wing span isn't constant at a given distance to the enemy plane when the head position differs.

Such a waste of a perfectly delicious gyro.
