Just so you know someone gets shot, but no gore.

Mother ****ers...
-
From what I hear the guy survived..
Great body armor or what?!
-
Im not sure this type of thing is appropriate for this bbs. But you can always "give it a shot" no pun intended.
-
I do belive it's a salute to our armed forces and the equipment they use..
As soon as he realizes whats happend he was up on his feet aiming in the general direction and takes cover.
If Skuzzy or the MP's find this offensive then please, remove it.
I'll scan the rules again to find anything that it could fall under.
-
Possibly rules #15 and #7 but not my intentions.
-
Yeah, it's amazing what technology can do now. Not sure where he got hit but I bet not to long ago he woulda been in a world of hurt. Instead he was up on his feet and able to defend himself and find safety.
And I didn't find it offensive at all. It's no worse than what you see on "amazing videos", actually a lot milder IMO. Looks like it just hit his body armor. Nothing worse than when you see vidoe of a police officer getting shot in the his vest.
-
From the original site it said he got hit square in the chest, I belive he was hit near his art...
But it takes guts and training to pop up that fast after getting shot.. And to actually expose yourself and be ready to fight back!
It shows you our guys know what their doing and their being trained accordingly, reason the video was captured was the guys who shot him were caught several days later..

But we have those on the board and in the world that see something like this and instead of looking at the bright side, as we are doing , look at it and just become enraged.
-
wtg bodyarmor.
Glad he made it. Too bad he didn't put one into the cameraman. See how he likes getting shot.
-
Thank god for bad aim. I could honestly say I'd die laughing if I saw the sniper and the cameraman get taken out.

After reading this thread, I went over to another forum I usually read and got the rest:
http://www.armytimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-976420.php
According to the link, a medic was shot (but saved due to the vest), then later when the t was captured the same medic treated his wounds.

Even better!
Thanks.

Amazing! The guy was shot with a Drugunov sniper rifle, which fires 7.62x54 ammo, at 75 yards. Not only does it not penetrate his armor, he is up and moving and coherent in under 3 seconds.
Bet that surprised the terrorists!

I do have to say I was just hoping for the point in that video when a hail of bullets came raining down on the camera man and his buddy.

That's the battle where Sergeant Leigh Ann Hester won the Silver Star. The video ends just as she is rolling up in the two humvees.

my best friend big brother got shot in the chest while inside Tul-Karem. thank god he was wearing a vest.
he told me he never felt anything like that, the pain was unbelivable and he got knoked back to the side of the APC he just got out from.
another story who didnt end very well,
a brother of friend was in one of the army elite forces, and they were in a night raid to arrest a someone.
he led the force, and they walked in too an ambush. he took 5 bullets to the chest, which the vest stoped, a bullet to the arm and another bullet pierced his neck, and severed his spine, he his now disabled from the neck down :(
-
Send me the full vid if you could too please..

I can only see the stuff on the front page and those vids.

Don't need a subscription. Everything is archived.
Just have to register.:p

Another thing worthy of note is that despite being shot, when the guy popped up he didn't do a "spray and pray" in the general direction of the fire because he was in a populated area and didn't have a clear target. Quite a contrast to the lies that the US military is "targeting civilians."
Vids like this one are routinely made and then sent to cells in other countries where they are edited and have stirring religious music tracks added and then posted on sites or cut to DVD and VHS for recruiting purposes. A missionary who sends me email from Jordan told me that two men were handing out DVDs from a car trunk to young men coming home from Friday prayers. He asked a Jordanian friend what they were handing out and the friend told him "Ansar Al-Sunna recruiting videos"
Ah well, can you imagine what would happen if the US Army pulled the "Army of One" ads and instead posted video of the insurgents being thoroughly routed in Fallujah with a new slogan along the lines of "So you think you're tough huh?"

I've been saying forever that the "Iraqi Insurgency" ain't from Iraq at all. But does anyone listen to me? Noooo!

Their Mainly Saudis...
And terroists that have the oppurtunity to attack us..
If you had the chance to take a shot at a terroist would you take it?
Not that i'm condoning or trying to say it's right, thats just how they see it.

Nothing scarier on this planet than being in range of a resolute man with an accurate rife that has the skill to use it.

say that to thrawn and he'll ask for a source.
what's even funnier is this whole "insurgency" title. It's idiocy! Insurgents by definition are from the country they are fighting in.
I think it's awsome now that we have body armor like this to protect us.
on a side note: I've been reading alot latly about armored shorts. No they arent kevlar boxers but they are body armor shorts that are designed to help gunners in Humves from taking hits in the groin area from bombs.
Alot of gunners have been getting hit their and...well....all of us know what we have to lose there.
-
Is it me or are the insurgents crappy camera men?
There was also an Army report that was published a few months ago that the majority of the insurgents were Iraqi, mostly holdovers from the Republican Guards and Baathists. However, those groups that have concentrated on terrorists acts such as the car bombings, suicide bombings and hostage taking have been mostly carried out by foreign jihadis.
There's even been reports from western Iraq where the Marines are operating in Anbar province that the local Iraqi insurgents have turned their guns on the foreign jihadis on numerous occasions. There was also a report that one of the tribes in that area took matters in their own hands and attacked both the local insurgents and foreign jihadis in this one town, driving them away before the Marines came in.

That is why i love wearing that heavy, hot, and uncomfortable vest.... bullets will smack the crap out of you but will not penetrate the SAPI (small arms protective insert).
-
If that was, in fact, a 7.62 x 54 Im damn impressed.

the 7.62 is .30 cal but whats the x54? is that equivalent to the 308 round?
-
The Army Times write up http://www.armytimes.com/content/editorial/pdf/at_sniper071505.pdf identifies the weapon as a Dragonoff. Which I presumed to be a misspelled Dragunov. I believe most were 7.68x54. There were a few other calibers produced, but not very big numbers.
It's 7.62 caliber round and a 54mm long cartridge.
That's a big freaking round!

A bit more in detail about what happened afterwards, from someone who was there:
Gentlemen,
I was THERE when Tshederier got hit. We got both snipers and the van. Brought out the dogt team (Civilian guys, Dog name Rex. Coolest mutt I have seen here.) They left a civilian in the streets with his brains all over it.
The shooters were crying like little ******* before we even got em back to Liberty. Could NOT understand why anyone they shot was still alive, ESPECIALLY when they saw him hit the ground. I lost all sympathy for these **'ers that day. The "sniper" hit one of my guys a week earlier and it was all we could do to make sure both of them made into the FOB in one piece. Still, *******.......
Edited the quote a bit for some profanity. I saw a pic of the guy's bruise - it's almost fist sized. And right above the heart too - he is very fortunate the plate was there and did it's job. The restraint shown by our guys here despite the fact that these aren't uniformed soldiers of another standing army is incredible. Our professional soldiers at work.

Yes, its close to the .308 in performance.

More or less. The "x54" refers to the case length in millimeters. Yes, it's more or less equivalent to a 308 but closer to a 30'06. For comparison:
7.62 Nato (308 Win) = 7.62x51
Most combloc full-powered rifles (snipers) and general purpuse machine guns = 7.62x54
SKS and AK-47 series = 7.62x39
