Title: I-16 question
Post by: MiloMorai on July 16, 2005, 09:39:22 AM
Was the I-16 still used as a front line a/c in 1945? If so, what was their mission?

I ask because a LW ace claims to have shot 3 down in Jan/Feb 1945. http://www.luftwaffereenactors.org/Dulias.htm

I can find no I-16s claimed on Tony Wood's site, though the claims only go to Dec 1944. There should be some before 1945, yes? http://www.lesbutler.ip3.co.uk/tony/tonywood.htm

If you read the thread over on TOCH there's some discussion over whether or not Dulias is 'the real thing'.

Why do you think I am asking about I-16s here and got the link for Dulias from?

Why do you think..

Thus my reply:

If you read...

There's no '100% certainty' expressed in your original post that you had read that thread.

There is also a subtle clue in my reply in that maybe you would be better off asking there first...

After all the 'knowledge base' on that forum is far beyond this one. Well with one exception it seems.

Use that grey matter between the ears Wotan. Is that too hard to do? It would seem so.

Sorry, I forgot your 'knowledge base' is superior to all others on this forum.

If you can't help answer the question, get out of the thread.

It's always best to check your milk for pee before eating your flakes.

That's rich. You post a question regarding a subject that 90% of the people of this forum know nothing about.

Don't you think you will get more help at the source?

Why didn't you ask this question there?

Besides the link I provided to the original subject, which you failed to do, allows other on this forum a chance to understand the context of your question. Not only that it provides a link to an interesting discussion others may wish to follow for themselves.

Your question was answered, ask over at TOCH.

If you were not so full of yourself Wotan you would have noticed that the I-16 question was asked already. It is in the wrong thread, for now, since Ruy split the original thread and put in the wrong thread.

Now get out of this thread.

Typical MiloMorai thread.

Maybe we need a petition to the mods to ban him outta here?

What does Ruy messing up the thread have to do with 'being full of' ones self?

It doesn't change the fact that without a link back to the primary thread that 90% of the folks reading this forum won't know the context of your question.

It doesn't help those who might be interested in the subject either...

Before spamming multiple boards why don't you wait for an answer over there?

He gets 'banned' enough. Just letting folks see what a 'kook' he can be is good enough.

After all who gets their panties bunched over a simple link to an interesting thread. One that's very much 'on-topic' and at the heart of his question here?

By the way Milo some of the '45 claims were complied by some one else. I have a link but keep looking you might find them. They are incomplete of course due to the Wehrmacht's situation but I am sure you are smart enough to figure this all out...

If I were to post another 'link' at this point there's no telling what kind of 'fit' you will progress into. Take your meds and I might post the link later after I give time for them to 'kick in'.

I could care less about some 'pissing contest' anyone/everyone is having on another board, can we keep it civil in here?

Milo, the answer is no.
According to Michael Maslov's monography
* no operational I-16 in VVS were reported  from the early 1944 in the ETO
* 1 operational I-16 in Northern Fleet air force was reported on 01/01/45
* all operational I-16 (~40) were removed from service in air defence forces (PVO) in the mid of 1944

The only unit operating I-16 was 888th IAP in the Far East which was rearmed with P-63 in August 45

I'd guess it was La-5/7 which was aften called "Super Rata"

Thank you dankes for the reply. :aok :aok

See Wotan, some of the 10% can answer a question without the snobby fullofthemself superiority 'attitude'.
