lOOKS LIKE an LA too me too..
But at the Dayton Airshow I saw a shiny pony and thought it was a Yak...
:o
-
It's an F7F Tigercat, not a bearcat, you look kinda like Nicholas Cage (he's a dick, too) and your beautiful wife can obviously kick yer ugly ass. ;)
Nice pics!! Best sympathies to the missus!
-
Duh yes you are right! It is a Tigercat.
She is Beautiful:)
And you are a rude git! ;) :lol

Uh gents. May I point out, for those with photoshop capabilities the rampant possibilities in at least ONE of the above photos. This could be far better than Nielsens floppy photo! What's more is that the requisite hour has passed and he cannot recall the photo from the bbs.
-
Do what you will. Could be interesting! :lol
-
Great stuff!
No closeups of any jugs?
-
No, sorry Nilsen. Thought I'd got one but was using crappy AVS camera and it didn't come out! Next time I visit I'll try get some. Bought new Digicam now. Duxford houses the fighter collection and they have a fine example of the P47.
-
ahh i see.
well, better luck next time :)

Just a quick go: -

That's the best you could do with all those spitfires in the background?!?!?! ;)

Found this in General Forums.
Not my pic but thought you might appreciate it.
Its the Duxford P47 I think.

By the way the new 47N and D40 keep making my game crash! So I won't be flying them mores the pity!
-
Nice pics!
I wonder if that B25 is the one that the Dutch test pilot, first name Edwin, cant remember last name, bought over here in the states. We put an extra fuel tank in the bomb bay before he took it to Europe. He wanted it for airshows, where they often would get all the fuel they could carry.
That guy is a heck of a pilot, did some awesome low level flyby's here in a Fokker F27.
-
Well that B25 was doing some awsome flybys. The second B25 came from Sion in Switzerland. Both were flown realy well but the Dutch one in its drab scheme looked more authentic. My Wife said the Swiss one was painted like a "tarts handbag!" :lol
Just for the record the p47 is not my pic. Don't want to take credit for something that isn't mine. Just posted it for nilsen as he was asking for 47 pics

Thx alot skydancer... great pic :)

Review of Flying Legends and many photos at Air Scene. (http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/airshow05/legends/legends.htm)

Good article. My first visit too. Was expensive but no more than a Motorcycle GP or any other big sporting event, so I didn't think it too bad. The line up was stunning but why no pics of the Yak / LA whatever it was. I thought the guy flying the Iceland air dakota was pretty good. He was chucking it about a bit for such a big bird.
Interestingly at the DD day celebs last year I met a fellow youthworker with his youth group. They'd all trained with the dutch parachute forces and got their wings and they made a jump in 1944 Para battledress over Ranville. My wife and I were down below keeping our fingers crossed for em. They jumped from the BBMF Dakota in these pics. Think that bunch of teenagers have a very good youthworker to thank for an amazing experience!

Was it a Yak with a radial engine?

We had an AH meetup there back in... 2001 I think. A few of us were asking the same question and I think airmess went to the ATC Tower and asked them if it was really a Yak and not a LA-5. The tower agreed with us, but the pilot got back to us, via the tower, and said it was definitely a Yak, but fitted with a radial.
-
Looks like a Yak to me, based on pics i got at home.
-
The mystery is over! :) That clears that one up.
Pretty plane though.

I wast there too. I thought it was the Fighter Collection LA-9 , not a YAK, but maybe you're right:confused:

I might be wrong, but I'm sure that the La-9 is now in New Zealand.
Just found this:
The Old Flying Machine Company have recently announced their intention to operate a newly restored Yak 3 from Duxford for the 2005/6 airshow seasons. The aircraft is currently being re-built by Pioneer Restorations in New Zealand, the same company that rebuilt OFMC's Lavochkin La-9 seen in the UK in 2003. Sadly the La-9 returned to New Zealand at the end of the 2003 season after only one season due to a temporary exemption issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
From what I understand OFMC sold it to TFC who also fly a lot of aircraft down in New Zealand.

Ahh! Right enough. Great show, but we Scots are not used to such temperatures. Phew!
