What you are seeing in that picture is just a normal routine landing for a +Nomad.

This is Silat on the wing of his plane after another typical +Nomad landing. You can see by his stance his pride at only over shooting the runway by 8 miles, a +Nomad record.

This +Tiff/CorkyJr's record breaking landing. He took the record when he only over shot the runway by 5 miles, breaking +Silat's previous record of 8 miles.

This also marked the 1st time a +Nomad actually crash landed within sight of the runway. This record stood for 10 years until broken by Delirium when he actually made contact on the runway. It was the first time in +Nomad history that one of them actually hit the runway, let alone stay on it. Reports say that upon exiting his plane and realizing that hard surface below him was actually the concrete of the runway, he started singing Broadway show tunes (a +Nomad way of showing glee and happiness.). Unfortunately, no pictures exist to record this event as Delirium landed on an enemy field and was quickly captured and made to sing show tunes for his captors before escaping dressed up as a little peasant girl.

+Nomad was how the spelled it back in AW and each member had a + in front of their names. Just a tribute harking the days of yesteryear.

After the war was over , alot of people bought the planes just for the gas. Seems uncle sam sold them with a full tank of fuel:cool:

I seem to recall reading that the British offered up demilitarized Spitfires for 100 or 500 quid or something after the war and practically nobody took them up on it. Maybe low single digit sales.
