Stupid people tricks. But a pretty darned cool trick.

Has this guy never seen what an F4 can do to a fully loaded semi-truck?
-
Hope he's got an ejection seat.

Future Darwin awardee.

The TIV weighs 13,780 pounds.
i would think alot of semi's weight more than that! but sure its does have a lower profile.....................s till gonna be a bumpy ride!

Hes mad as a box of frogs!

Mad as a box of frogs? Jeebuz...! How about something alittle more dramatic? Like "Crazier than a outhouse rat?" or...Crazier than a Brit without tea....or...never mind. Frogs will work JUST fine...

I dont think Ejecting INTO the storm is such a great Idea.....kind like driving into the storm in the first place.

A loaded semi is carrying 40,000+ pounds, plus what the vehicle wieghs. That ugly pc of crap will get sucked up and twisted into a cheese fritter.

fully loaded a semi's gross weight is 80,000 lbs thats the leagal limit. the vast majority will run between 75,000 to 79,800.
the reason for this is getting the weight even distibuted between the axles and staying within legal limits
steer axle<1> 12,000
drive axles <2> 34,000
trailer axles<2> 34,000
-
Actually, that is not true. We run just under 84,000 on overweight permits in Texas, and some Northern states run over 100,000 pounds, just to nitpick.
-
actually it is true acording to the FMCSR and DOT regulations.
i wasnt commenting on overweight permits, just the regualr regulations and no state according to the federal database alows a truck to gross over 100,000 without special permits and thos trucks generally have several more axles.

Hey Gunny,
Speaking of storms, whats the story with that engine?

And what about triple trailers? I hear it only takes a butterfly's sneeze to make 'em fly off the road, and kill soccer moms and innocent kids for miles around!

I'm sure he has, considering that's what he apparently spends much of his time doing. I'd wager his goal is to drive it into lower-powered tornados, a task for which that vehicle looks plenty adequate. ~150 MPH winds probably wouldn't be sufficient to do much to that thing, and the steel plates should provide decent protection against flying objects. I don't think anyone would be suicidal enough to willingly drive a seven-ton truck into an F5 category tornado. I wouldn't want to drive an Abrams tank into an F5.

The only problem with that theory is this: Tornados are unpredictable. What looks like a F1 could easily turn into an F4 within minutes. I loved storm chasing as a dumb teenager, still do when I get back to midwest if the opportunity arises, but no way in heck would I drive an armoured vehicle into one...thats crazy.

Ok, lets say he does manage to keep all four wheels on the ground in a large scale tornado. What happens when a rather fast moving house nicks his paint job...
-
Awww, that gives me an IDEA! What if u got a t-72 , took the turret off, stripped out all the military stuff, and put on a thik plexan/steel kinda dome thing. With the low profil, i bet itd Make it.:aok
-
I've seen tornados strip asphault off a road. I don't care if it is a Ford, it won't stand up to a tornado. I have doubts about his beginner welds, too.

To be honest I was expecting some cool pics of the RAFs finest on this thread.
Not some mad as a box of frogs bloke who makes cars out of pig iron that look like rejects from a SCi Fi movie!
