Whats the most money as a kid did your parents owe you?

Yea yea they buy my food etc.

But you get a job and they need to borrow money, how much have they owed you?

I owned my first business at 14 and gave 50 percent of my profit to my parents.  I never thought they owed me anything.  If I was going to ask for that money back it would have been about 3 grand per summer over 3 years or 9k.

I would have gladly loaned my parents money at any time, but fortunately haven't had to.

My Sister is a different story.  She still owes me about $1K.

I owed my mom about $500 after highschool, paid it off soon as I hired in at Boeing within 2 months.  I hate owing people money.

My parents never needed to borrow from me, they were very good with managing money.

I've earned my money and i'm saving it, spending it on what I really love, and thats WWII history not porno..

And sure I got it easy compared to some, but there are other issues in my family that money can't solve..don't get me started on whats happend recently.. :(

They have never borrowed from me, but i borrowed close to 300.000 NOK (40.000$?) from them for my education.

All payed back.

They could have given it to me I suppose, but by not doing that they have given me so much more.

When I was younger I spent money like there was no end to it. Idiot.

I don't think that your parents owe you anything.  at age 13 my mom told me christmas would be scarce that year because they were saving money to buy us our first home.  I went out and found a printer who would personalize christmas cards and envelopes for me.  I went door to door in my immediate area and provided my youger siblings with an awesome christmas as far as presents go.  i felt priviledged to be able to help out and honored that my mom confided in me.  perhaps your parents are going through a hard time and need your help, that's one of the obligations of family.

If they have to pay you minimum wage they should charge you room and board. Or get a real minimum wage job. Checked into they local grocery store to see if they need any help?

Years from now, you'll think back on this and realize what an bellybutton you were for thinking that any money you hand over to your parents is a loan.  But that's OK, most of us were tulips when we were young.

I'm not complainin just wondering what yall have handed out to the parents because, they were buying things and needed things before the paycheck came in..

My mom wouldn't let me forget about the money, shes the one who wrote it up on the refrig.

She also taught me not to take money for favors, or for helping a neighbor move in, or for mowing a yard because someone was sick, etc.

I mean if you have to be an bellybutton with someone who better then your mom? :aok

Any money I give to my kids is either a loan or a payable for services rendered.  Any money I gave to my parents would be a repayment of what they have given me.

...and with that response, you're obviously a lot less of an bellybutton than I was at your age. :)

Loaned my dad money? Countless times. The man was horrible at managing money and drove us into horrible debt to the point that he had to sell our house and we had to move in with his mother. Pretty bad for a man who made a profit on selling his first home to buy the home that he eventually had to sell to avoid bankruptcy.

Me? Luckily I inherited my mother's financial gene's (God rest her soul). I'm putting myself through college, have my own car and apartment and plenty of money with which to spoil myself (e.g. alcohol, strip clubs, etc. etc.)

We owe our lives to our parents, I think its a fair trade to give em a buck or two now and thennnnn.
