Can you tell me what you think please?
I know the prop needs doing, the Markings and the the difference between the cammo and the underside is not straight, and there is no Weathering...Apart from that? Seeing as it my first attempt :)

Not bad panel lines lil on dark side should match paint color.
Nose art need work. Other than that looks great.
-
TY SkyChimp...The lines aren't a problem... In what way about the nose art?
-
Ok (http://www.gfg06.dial.pipex.com/snortinbull.jpg)
Yours is a little hard to see get us closer =)
-
Its looking very promising steffk, should look great once the markings and weathering are done. The Hurri is a buggy pain in the bellybutton to skin, I gave up on it. I like the stringers on the rear fuselage, although it looks like they are curling up towards the rear a bit on the top.
-
Updates, just been working on the Ensignias :) As requested SkyChimp...As close as I can get :)

Let me know.
Greebo, I got the Template from AH-Skins so Serious to Kweassa for that...His Template is Awesome, It wouldn't look as good if I had to do it from scratch.
All i'm doing is my additions...I'm also working on my own Spit V Template...God it's a 'PITA'
-
Tip for the panel lines.
Duplicate the dark lines layer.
Set it underneath the 'original' dark lines.
Apply a gaussian blur set at 4.
Drop the opacity down.
Helps to 'soften' all the panel lines a little.
I have a Spit V template if you want it.
-
Cheers Kev...Will do that and Yes please on the Spit Template.

Update 3.

looking good is that a 71 squadron huricane?>
For a first attempt yur doing great my fist attempt looked like a pile of c::p.
mind u they are not gettnig much better, have fun skining thats what counts
and its not quanty its quality just do the best u can and remember there is always some one around to answer a question
-
look good for a fist effort.. mucho potential there bud....
one pointer i can give you is" think about the real world...foot traffic, maintainence, battle and weather wear"
panel lines are not gaps between the pannels , they are the joins for highy machined components, accurate to exact levles. the need to be thin..
-
Rogerdee...Thanks for the comments, yes it is a 71 Sqn Hurri, flown by Bill Dunn.
And yes I am having fun, but a Degree in Media Technology helps, even a Nearly 40 person like me :).
People have been fantastic on here regarding help, Greebo, SkyChimp, Kev367th, yourself and SELCTOR.
Selector...Cheers for your comments aswell, the real world is what I am thinking of...I used to be a Wpns Mech in the RAF, worked on Tornado's GR1a's and F3's so I know how they are meant to be ;)...How they are in real life is held together with spit and speed tape :rofl
-
cool .. hope to see a few tornados tomorrow at our local airshow..
windermere show..:aok
-
Excellent...Make sure you get some piccies...Enjoy :)
-
I'd say the squadron letters look a little stretched vertically. Make them a bit wider for their height.
-
Kev...Did the panel lines as you suggested and they look better.
Greebo...I eventually got them sorted after 7 hours LOL. 3 hours yesterday and 4 today
I got them right by the following in the text window of PS7(CS)
70 point size.
11 point Leading.
-100 tracking.
120% vetical scaling.
110% horizontal scaling
What a beatch :)
This is how it looks so far, just wing Roundels, tail bars, A/C# and weathering to finish off.

Its preety good for a first try :)
-
Looks real good for 1st try.
Secrets to skinning-
Keep playing with the opacity (even on templates) to get what you want.
You have to exaggerate some details and tone down others compared to the real thing.
You can't have enough layers.
Experiment
Thats Spit 5 template I sent you is an early one, my latest have the white and black panel lines on seperate layers.
My typical skinning template now usually has 30+ layers and is 30mb+.
-
I always use black panel lines. Yours still look a little dark i have my 30-60 :)
-
Cheers Josh
.
Kev...Thanks for all the help, It's awesome .
On my Hurri, I have 26 layers on my HURR1SD and 16 on my HURR1WG, one is 5Mb the other is 3Mb.
It's just getting to know what all the different filters in PSP do :(.
I have been playing with that Spit template you gave me, when I got really annoyed and binned my Hurri in the Recycle bin...then decided against it...Too much work put into it to not finish it off...Anyway I promised Schatzi, My Squaddie, I would submit it for her as she doesn't have a 71 Sqn Skin for her Hurri :)
I'm gonna post the Hurri with All letters and roundels on, just with weathering left.
-
Sky,
30-60 What?
Fill? opacity? Not sure what you mean, if Opacity, Mine are down to 80%...Will try them at 60% and see :)
-
try 40-50:D
-
Schatzi is a women:rolleyes: damn and she keeps shooting me down lol,
the sskin looks great never bin a project always put it to one side if u have problems and wait for insperation,or a answer to a question from some one.
u may not go back to the skin for months but hell its not doing any damage just sitting there on pc ,.
-
Update Time.
No weathering done yet, but all insignia and Lettering applied...Can any one spot any mistakes, cause I've been looking at it for soooooooo long LOL.
SkyChimp...I set the opacity to 40%, which seems to have calmed them down a bit :)
Rogerdee...Did you not know Schatzi is female?...She is a damm good pilot also ;)

Before anyone shouts out...The A/C # is under the Tail Band...Yes I know...Every picture I have seen has that...Even the Old Flying Machine Co Hurri XIIb they paint as XR-T A/C # BTW is Z3781 FYI.
Cheers Guys

Nice -
Only thing I can see is the lines on the port wing aileron.
I think they are supposed to look like ribs, but they need fading down (lower opacity).
Serial numbers ended up in all sorts of wierd configs, I have seen them -
Front end of upper tail (very small)
Partially under squadron codes.
None at all
Lots of diff one for planes with invasion stripes, i.e. overpainted, partially overpainted etc.
Only thing is I think your serial numbers are far too big. If you look at the actual pic of the A/C, they look maybe 1.5x as big as the outer yellow ring on the RAF fuselage roundel.
Look here, not your aircraft but shows relative sizes well
