My mom and her family are from Metropolis.  (Don't get the wrong idea. Someone had a strong sense of irony, I think -- county hospital slightly larger than my living room)

Like to go down to metropolis oneday and view the scenery, but havent made it that far. went to chester out of boredom a while back and got a picture of the popeye statue there (Chester, IL is the home of popeye)

There's an OK park there, but not lots of scenery --as far as i remember.

Course, there is the major tourist attraction -- thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, the town enjoys multiple "home of superman" motifs.

At least it did last time i was there. Memory kinda went black after seeing some insurance agent dressed in cape and tights as "superman of the year"...

The biggest draw Metropolis has is the Riverboat Casino.  Superman has been a draw for a long time, but they never really got much traffic until the casino came to town.  Now tour busses drop people off down there but the boatloads (no pun intended).

Or at least they did last time I was there.  Amazing how much that town changed once the riverboat came in.

Forgot about the casino, lot of people around here go there and  gamble. I wouldnt even try it, id lost my money. Id be happy playing 1 cent and 5 cent slots though
