Title: Bad install?
Post by: nirvana on July 27, 2005, 11:09:32 PM
Do I have a bad install going on or something?  I downloaded the game, installed etc.  I go to start the game, a white screen shows up then closes.  I can't even get into the game, any ideas?

Usually that means you have the incorrect (non-DirectX9) video driver installed.

If the video card is an NVidia card and is a FX5xxx series or older, you should use the 61.77 drivers from NVidia as the newer drivers have been optimized for the FX6xxx series, and later.

If it is an ATI card, and is an X8xx series or newer, use the latest drivers from ATI, else use the 4.12 Catalysts.  Be sure to not install the Cataylst Control Center.  Use the ATI Control Panel instead.

Oh that must be what I did wrong.  It's an ATI 9600SE, then I installed the control center from the catalyst 5.7 drivers.  Thanks Skuzzy.

Installed DirectX9.0c, reinstalled the game, new video card drivers and still nothing.  It starts to load, a black screen comes up then it just shuts down.  Any ideas?  I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms.
