Skuzzy any help?
-
Also i am noticing allmost all of my video memory getting used up, and it never once did this before ussally only 23mb used
-
Okay i installed the 61.77mb, and it seems it has fixed it. Tho im getting lower frames now, but this baffles me skuzzy. I can run Lo-mac. On kinda high settings with no stutters or CTDS, but it seems ah2 needs a
$700+ comp just to run it smoothly. Maybe this is how i have the game setup. Also i dont know how long this mx4000 will last in aceshigh, but the problem is im limited to pci graphics card. (dumb dell mobo) I really wish it had apg lol. So whats the best pci card i could get? Im not the richest
person in the world so im looking for something cheap that will last me a few years...
-
5900Ultra? My comps ok but i still get 60-fps :(

Bah no computer will play the game like you want it lol.

Hmmm, sorry Jet. I coulda sworn I'd seen a PCI version of a 9600 before. If they ever did make it though, they are long gone. I did track down a few options that might be an improvement over your 64MB MX4000 video card.
Tiger had the best selection of PCI cards (which surprised me), but it still wasnt great. The ATI 9200/9250 or the Nvidia FX 5200 seem to be about the only things left on the market better than what you have. They arent really much of a step up, but if you want to make your comp last another year or two, you need to go up from that 64MB video card for sure. Give these a look. You can always try ebay also, they have a thriving video card reselling base. You just have to watch what you buy there, dont buy something that someone overclocked and blew up.

he may be able to get by on a 5200 but it really wont have extended graphics or distance in game.
you'd be better off w/ a mainboard swap and a agp card .
-
I agree, but he needed the cheapest solution possible to improve his performance enough to keep this computer going for the next year at least, more if possible. Limited to a standard PCI slot for video cards, when almost everyone has stopped making them, the 5200 and the 9200/9250 are about his only options to step up. There are better deals to be had on better cards in AGP, and I could recommend several cheapo motherboards with an AGP slot that would use his current processor even, but I'm not sure if he's up to swapping out the motherboard on his own.
