How happpy was I to witness this morning the fabulous knight coordination while we were attacking a field...
A- 10 Figters fighting 3/4 Nme planes,Just out of ack range
B- Nme starts to dissapear (peon realises he's about to be vulched, thus...not being an idjit, he takes off from another field...fine)
C- YOU Take off, heavy (Call it "loaded" : 3 Eggs + 10 Rockets)
D- Get there and realise the Only NME in the area is an Ostwind. EVERYTHING IS UP at the field, and 10 fighters are slowly circling over the field (at a maganimous altitude of 10.00001 K)... Not ONE has thought of engaging the ack.
E- Dive heavy -----> Die to acks Nr1
F- Pick : either repeat the above with a K/D Ratio with acks being 1/2 or 1/3 OR get a buff and pop the ack from (M Alt 10.00001 K (Tm)).
G- Great you popped the ack ! Let's all go down and Vulch the GV (while of course leaving fuel, ammo etc untouched...)
H- Even BETTER, a guy comes in, Grabs a Goon and declares "GOON OTW!" .... Smashing !
I- Come back heavy again, just to make sure you pop those hangars...
J- Get shot down at 5 K while CAP is drinking a coffee cup at 15 K
K- Con gets shot by Diving CAP... Goon is On the way still...
L- ... the Dreaded "A1 UNDER ATTACK !" comes in. You arrive at the Field, only to see the Goon get shot by a TBM, when you dive on the TBM (releassing extra ordonance), ack Pops up.... and of course, no one is there since everyone is "defending" A1 ....
M- Go back to bed. wait for squaddies to wake up.
All I'll say is "Clap clap clap clap !!! Bravooooooo!!!"

Not the same field, time or attack, but here is another perspective...
I was inb A29 last night because it was all red when I logged on. I was halfway there in a 51 when someone starts telling everyone that is not heavy to not go to 29- phooey, I am in a 51, I am not turning back just because someone thinks I am in the wrong ride.
I get there as 3 bombers are working on the field. I see some fighters down below and am tempted to dive in. Then I think, "Nah, be a team player, stay with the buffs. One escort might be enough to keep them alive long enough to drop all hangars. We can overwhelm them after that."
I wind up pulling 5 kills and an assist or two from that mess, keeping the enemy off the bombers for some time. I ignored field ack and the numerous Ostis. Did I do anything wrong? Yes, according to the generals that began eating their young after the attack went sour. Now they didn't call me out personally on it, I don't mean that, but there was the inevitable "you guys did this wrong, you did that wrong" after the failure.
A lot of guys worked hard to get that field, and a lot of guys worked hard to be sure we didn't. Their side won, that's all. It was a fun attack nonetheless but of course that doesn't matter without the "win", does it? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Yesterday at A8 it was a complete mess. The usuall base capture coordination was off and the "need a goon" calls came, as usual, just as the last hangar went down... even thought there were still ostwinds and fighters in the area that needed clearing. The goon driver, as usual, came in and was slaughtered.
One squad decided to try to sneak an M3 in. And in the middle of this giant un-coordinated battle with constantly spawning vehicles, buffs and fighters... not to mention the higher incoming fighters from 27... an M3 drove up to the bunker and unloaded the troops for the capture.
Damn if I don't love to see 4 pilots and 3 ostwinds be inside of an ack unbrella when we capture a base.
It was totally uncoordinated. There were at least 40 people there. We were getting kills right and left... they were getting kills right and left. Everything was popping up at the worst possible time. It was utter chaos. It was also a blast. Think it would have been a blast even if we didn't get the field.
The frustration of failing to get a field is similar to the frustration of losing a dogfight. You instantly forget how much fun you had trying. We just need more people in the arena with longer attention spans (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Thank you for this thread. I was thinking about bolting from Bishland for a roving tour of the world due to our monumental <so I thought> incompetence at doing anything in a coordinated fashion.

Kieren, I 'm not asking poeple to do this ot that, I was (and am still) Just p*ssed off at those 10 Vulchers that dinnae wanted to scratch their paint (Prolly 'cause ack is too deadly)... they just let the others do the hard work , so that they can come in easily and vulch on a runway... and LEAVE when the hangars are down because there is nothing left to vulch...

Well I'm in one of those moods today Saintaw.
I've about had it with this "Let's tie up a fleet for hours so we can sneak off the map to their HQ" attitude that's going around right now.
It's not just one side nor is it just one person doing it but it always seems to be one of the highest ranking people so you can't take over the fleet and use it in a better way.
I guess it wouldn't be bad if it was done every once in a while but to do it every night?! Some times more than once a night?!
Yes Yes I understand sometimes it's not a raid on HQ but it still ties up a fleet for hours and the most it will accomplish is to divert their attention for a short while.
And don't get me started on this going off the map crap....
I'm sorry but I WON'T be a part of this off the map crap nor will I support it.

Even though we knits are uncoordinated most of the time, I still arppreciate the good humor shown by some. Sac1 is a riot when things are going down the dumper.

add to this the "let's circle the CV 40 miles offshore from a base, You can't use the guns, and the bloody ships are running down the pt's we spawn, but ain't we have fun with our instant airbase/vulch machine"
CV's should only be controllable by guys with highest number of field captures IMHO
(plugging ears while waiting for the howls)

Actually, pzvg, that isn't a bad idea. I would rather have the fleet in the hands of a strat-minded person than with some guy who makes milk runs on factories or HQ's.
Then again, some shore batteries could sure give the "Gilligans" something to think about. I would like to see some shore batteries near the ports at the very least.
