I spoke with several members of my squadron, and I found that they too fly. I'm curious how many people here fly planes in real life. Myself, I started working for the local airport (CNH) and traded ten work hours for one hour of flight in the Tomahawk. In April of 1991 I did my first solo, and then went on to my cross countries. But then I left for college, and have not been able to be PIC since. However I am going to be starting up again, in April or May of this year.
So what about the rest of you? What real life flight experiences do you have?

Been flying for a living since most of yas were just a gleam in your Daddy's eye....November of '73 it was. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Pilot since 1983. Currently sole owner of a Piper Comanche, complex aircraft. Retract and constant speed prop. Half owner of a C172 that is used for instrument training and light rental.
Learned on a Piper Tomahawk and have hours in C150's, 152's, 172's, 120, an hour in a Bell Jet Ranger and lots in my Comanche.
Wife just started lessons this weekend. YIKES!!
Right now working with an API and learning how to do maintenance on OH6 helicopters and numerous fixed wing AC.

What you do in the privacy of your bedroom is not really something we need to know about Loser. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Well, I've got about 10 hours in my log book with about 4 of those solo. PA-28 cherokees and C152s. Also have many hours of unofficial time and about 100 hours of flight test engineer time (Im an aeronautical engineer IRL).

Don't fly anymore, but have almost 2500 hours in various UH-1 Iroquois models. The Army decided that both the Huey and I were outdated (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Solo'd in a Cessna 172 in just under 8 hours of dual.
Half hour in a Stearman PT-17 (ya.. big very slow biplane) spent buzzin radio towers north of Madera long ago (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Hour in an Aeronca Champ .. fabric covered, no flaps, *way* slow, and a joystick. Plan your day around one circuit of the pattern (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Last time up was in Crazy Horse... for an hour.. doing everything I do in the arena except 'auger' and blow someone outta the sky. 400mph at tree top (and below in one instance) after a split ess from 8500 feet .. ya just can't do 'Stang' in a Cessna (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Worth every minute of the flight. www.stallion51.com (http://www.stallion51.com) .. go there, burn a credit card.. do it. A life treat.

I fly.
Well, technically i fall.
But since I have control of forward/backward movement and can do rolls and stuff, I should be considered a pilot.
Since I also use a chute every flight, i should be considered a very poor one (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Does jumping out of a plane count as a pilot?
I mean i free fall for a few hundred feet before i slow down.

Only fly Gliders at a local airfield, called Shennington, UK.
Was actually one of the fields Frank Whittle testflew his Whittle jet back in the early 40s.

Pvt pilot since '94 (w/ instrument rating but not current). Just bought a newly-made Skybolt that was put together by the SoCal wing of the Confederate Air Force at Camarillo, and I'm in the middle of flying off my 40 test hours (yes, I did the initial test flight myself, albeit with much trepidation and bargaining with the Almighty). Hope to compete her in Sportsman either late this year or early next. Acro is the most fun you can have with your clothes on, and I'm just thankful no one shoots at me in real life like they do in AH.

I've got about 40,000 miles on United Airlines so far this year. Prefer the window seat but I'll take the aisle if I have to.
