Iraq bomb attack kills 14 marines (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4741989.stm)

Fourteen marines and their civilian translator have been killed in a roadside bombing in north-western Iraq, the US military says.  :(

Poor buggers.

Maybe a new strategy is needed. Saw something the other day that suggested they might be better off staying on base away from City and only protecting contractors who are working to get country back on its feet. I dunno if thats a good idea but the death toll is  grim.

In no way do I want to diminish the deaths of those fighting there but I have to say that the death toll hasn't been anywere near grim.  It sucks yes I completly agree but it is no were near the death toll we got back on a nightly basis from Vietnam.

I agree with you though that the tactics could use a tweaking.

to St. Peter I will tell,
Another Marine reporting sir,
I did my time in Hell."

I'm not sure that it's the tactics that need tweaking but the ROE. Unfortunately the troops are in a situation where they have to wait for a hostile act to occur first. That means the other guy gets the firs shot. There's not much you can do about it.

and RIP to those troops.
