Dnil, Sling,
Thursday, Friday or Saturday I'll be flying to Houston. We are going to fly cancer's nuclear medecine out of Hobby airport to McAllen/ Corpus 5 times a week.
I have no place to stay yet, and don't know a thing about Houston. All I know is that I have to start the route on Monday. I'm going to fly one of the cessna 210 there, with a bunch of spare underwares and see what's happening. Maybe in a couple of weeks, when I have time, I'll find a way to get my car/stuff brought from Los Angeles.:)

it's near teh gulf coast, it's humid it rains a lot. it's....
nasteeeeeeeee.
welcome to texas.

Since I'm in the US, I've lived in all the messed up placed: Los Angeles and roofing in it's semi-desertic climate, and Florida the sweat-o-matic swampland.
I always hated the heat, but it seems that's where i always end up. I guess I'm getting ready for Hell, freedomies don't go heaven:D

If you made it through Florida weather Houston wont be much different. The traffic may be as bad or even worse than some parts of LA. If you are single you will like the night life and the women.
-
I'm not a freedomite !
-
Oddly enough I live fairly close to Hobby. I actually live just a little north of Ellington, thats where I fly out of. Plenty of fun stuff comes in and out of their all the time.
Good thing is the airshow is in October so you wont miss it. Bad thing is you are coming in August. The heat and humidity here is disgusting this time of year. I doubt you have experienced anything like it. I have lived in many places and Houston+August makes hell look like the arctic.
It takes an hour to drive anywhere thats remotely fun so just plan that in with anything you do and coming from LA you already know spanish so you are set.

I'm right there with ya frenchy. I don't think San Antonio is as bad as Houston but I'm moving from a dry heat to a nasty heat.
I've lived in Texas before so I know about the bugs. Yes everything is bigger in texas.
Good luck to ya.

Welcome to Texas Freedomy! :D Houston is like a combination of LA and Florida, traffic+heat*humidity.
-
Welcome to Texas, Frenchy. Sorry it's Houston.
There are a few good things about Houston. The women are incredibly hot and friendly and Galveston is nearby.
-
Frenchy,
What part of LA do you live in? I'm just curious.
PS If you live in these parts of Los Angeles...
Watts
Compton
East L.A.
South (formerly South Central)
West Hollywood
i understand;)
imo L.A. is still the best city and im thinking about going back htere in the future.
-
I'm living at Crenshaw/48th ... Kind of South, and in the middle ;)
If any1 wants to hit me up in Houston (951) 255-0645. I'll need a tour guide to find a house for rent next to the Airport.
-
ok you texans you better take Frenchy in ... or
my people
will come...
talk to your
people,,,
(besides he owns a 455 firebirdy)
p,s. watch out for the roaches .. they can carry a whole car , house ,ect off and not even break a sweat.
-
Houston, you have a problem! (coming)
:D :p
-
stuff right near hobby might be kinda nasty to live in. There is always pearland and friendswood though and across I-45 you have webster and clearlake. Would be about a 20-30 minute drive from those places depending on the time of day.
oh and how do ya feel about exploding refineries?
-
Yeah you probably dont want to live around Hobby. Pretty rough in that area.
-
I emailed Frenchy and warned him about the "Pasadena Smell" too.

Mmm... you haven't been to Pasadena, TX right next to Hobby Airport. A rose will be the last thing that comes to mind.
-
Sounds like a great place to terrorise the neighborhood in my 1973 environement friendly big block.:)
Will see when i'll be there, I need a place with some kind of garage for my car. An underground parking structure might do. Maybe the area where u can see the air you breathe can have cheap $700ish house/garage rent. Plus it's close from work.
-
Im currently living in stinkadena. Its a strange place. most parts are not that great at all then the new area is really not bad at all. Culture clash on fairmont parkway. The refineries in pasadena up towards deerpark just freaking stink, all the time. No idea why people live there. But from where i live south to Ellington towards league city is not bad at all.
As to underground parking, umm maybe downtown has some. the water table here is probably 2 ft. Not much underground anything around here.

a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
In this case the individual is the City of Pasadena, Tx.

My brother lives in Pasadena too. If you don't mind the constant stench of the refineries it's not too bad. Good luck in your move Frenchy!

I should change my name to Captain Oblivious.

Frenchy, welcome to Houston. I live about 30 miles SW of downtown. Despite the heat and humidity, I think you'll love it here. It has just about everything you could want, from country to cosmopolitan. Only problem is you have to drive forever to get anywhere. lol
