Title: Air Warrior Question...
Post by: midnight Target on August 04, 2005, 10:10:40 AM
Some of you former AW'ers may remember the guy with the mustache in the breifing room. I always joked that he looked like Robert Preston, (The Music Man guy, or the guy from Last Starfighter for you children). Yesterday I read that Preston was an Intelligence Officer in the AAC and would regularly give briefings before missions.

Is it possible the guys at Kesmai knew this and modeled the guy to look like Preston? Anyone know?

Oh how I miss that guy in the Briefing Rooms......  ~sigh~  :)

Flossy had a crush on him.  No one could bear to tell her the guy was gay (his b/f was the co-pilot in one of the bombers).

Oh, and I'm sure someone could answer your question.  But then we'd have to kill you.  Some things are better left alone.  ;)

We'd have to ask GE to be absolutely sure, but I'd say it's just a coincidence.

He probably just took the generic face he used for everyone and added a mustache.

I *do* know, though, that the face usually used in AW was a scanned image of the Unibomber wanted poster.

I always thought he looked like Clark Gable

I'd be interested in knowing who the guy in the OC dressed in the trenchcoat was....  he looked like a flasher in that outfit :D

He was a perv.

He was playing pocket pool.

And it was Darn Near Impossible to keep Flossy's attention on the mission briefing with him fiddling!

Roc knows too much about this subject... I'm picturing him at the studio in front of Quarters, "What do you think of THIS look??  Too serious?"

I always thought it looked like Ploesti Medal of Honor winner, Col Leon Johnson of the 44th BG.  He'd have lead a briefing or two.

Do you really think the same people that gave you exploding sheep cared one whit about some fancy-lad in a marching band uniform singing "76 Trombones"?

As for the Unibomber look, Moggs, it was the oversized neo-70's Village People aviator glasses GE used in lieu of eyes that made them all look like members of the Kazinsky family.

I don't remember a single time that any mention of any historical figure came up during the development of those screens.

Hey, Quarters!  Howdy!  I haven't been flying in AH for all that long, so I don't know if you've been up and flying for years, but if not, you might want to post a message in the following topic.  I'm sure other AW old timers would be jazzed to see you around!

No, not flying. I might, though. I've been too busy getting ready for my first kid. Should be here in the next 10 days or so.

I've got the stuff, though. Saitek X52 hotas combo, TrackIR dohicky, uber computer, no skillz, etc... Maybe I'll try to get back into it.

Yeah, first. I've come quite a ways since I started Air Warrior on GEnie back in '91 as a 1/2 drunk college student with a bunch of free access to the game.

The weird thing is that was only like 13-14 years ago. Seems like a hundred as time is so compressed in the virtual world. Maybe it seems like such a long time ago because so few people knew about the internet back then - it was still sort of a frontier. Sure seems longer than 13 years.

Congrats !

Hehehe, I can see the divorce coming now if he tried that .

My wife, OTOH, bought me one of those Shark Mouth Prop ceiling fans a few years back. Problem is, ceilings in the basement where my toys are is only 6'5". I'll get the thing up somewhere eventually.

QT...room looks great, man. Do you find youself just sitting there looking at the room and wondering?
