Saitek X45 Digital Joystick and Throttle
Its $80 bucks .
Is this a good stick to buy, hehehehe anything is better then the one i have.
Thank you .:p
-
I have one, like it a lot. The rocker switch rudder takes some getting used to, though.
-
many many people use that one.
i still use the throttle from it.
-
Get the X-52, I've had two X-45's, the X-52 is much better.

My personal taste would be the stiffer feel of the X45 over the X52. The trottle setup of the X52 is good, but the stick is alot looser and flimsy compared to the X45.

No disrespect, but my experiences do not match you own.
Just for clarification, in my 15 years of flight simming, I have used pretty much all the high-end sticks.
CH F-16 Fighterstick, 2 of em
CH Combatstick
CH Propedals
CH Pro throttle
TM F16, 2 of em
TM F22, 2 of em
TM pedals
TM throttle
Logitech 3d extreme gold
Saitek X-45
Saitek X-52
The full CH HOTAS setup is my favorite, however all my CH stuff was gameport, and I have yet to upgrade to USB.
I bought the X-52 and feel it is on par with anything else I have tried to date. No deadzone problems, no weak springs, etc... It works great! All I need to buy now is a set of USB pedals and I'm good to go.

Thank you for the reply guys , Like i said anything is better then the one i'm useing.

Grab the X52 if you like twisty sticks and the X45 if you don't.
I have an X45. It's been going for a year and a half without the 8 way view button going out.
-
You can get the x45 from the saitek website for 40 bucks. Just by the reconditioned one. It comes with the same warranty.
-
buy it from E-bay and find one for a LOT less
-
you also have the risk of buying a bad stick or not getting it at all. for 40 bucks for a x45 with warranty it's tough to go wrong.

Wouldn't use anything else. ;)

I use the X45 with CH Pro pedals. Works well for me. I suggest you buy from Best Buy or Circuit City for lower prices. Also, purchase the exchange warranty as the hat switches on the X45 won't last a year under normal use.
My regards,

i really like the old TM gear, imho the origional TM pedals are the best you can get if you are into realisticaly proportioned ww1 style pedals. just get the usb adaptor for the tm stuff and you can save alot of money.

TM = Thrustmaster? Are they still around? I thought they went under a long long time ago?

Goob ever use MSFFB? Ive tried a bunch too. CH,Saitek,MS and out of them all nothing compares to the FFB. Everything else is a stick on a spring. If someone never tried the FFB, they dont know what they are missing. In my opinion of course.

I've got an old TM rudder pedal setup that I could be induced to part with................
Worked last time it was hooked up... maybe 6-7 years ago.

I live in constant fear of the day my FFB2 dies. Fracking M$, they make a product that actually works really really well and then decide "Meh, Joysticks are too hard, lets stop making them."
Many of the best sticks in Jumpgate (space sim) swore/swear by them, and it's served me fine in Aces High (not that I'm a good enough pilot for the joystick to ever be a limiting factor).

No.It sux's.Get CH.:aok

Are the hat switches on the x52 any better?
-
I've had an X-45 for a year and was happy with it.
Just replaced it with an X-52 which is even nicer.
-
what FiLtH & Widewing said
I have had both - my X52 is in the closet while the x45 is on my desk
here are some Saitek profiles (http://www.pogbird.com/X45/)

The x45 is a very decent, well built stick except for the rocker switch rudder input. If you're not already conditioned to using a twist handle or pedals, go for it. Otherwise you'll probably have a hard time adjusting.

I have tried the MSFFB. It's a decent stick. However, have you tried the CH F16 Fighterstick? I really like the way they do the gimbals, really allows you to isolate your roll and pitch movements. Very easy to do a clean roll with no elevator accidentaly added in. Jump in the AH calibration window and try to move any joystick, MSFFB included, without seperate gimbals/springs for each axis and see how hard it is to actually input just one axis or the the other.
I know lots of people swear by the MSFFB, but the early generation TM F-16's and the current CH F-16's are the best IMHO. My 1st TM f-16 lasted over 2 years. I bought another which died in 2weeks, they sent me a new one, died in 2 weeks. I bought an F22, it died in 2 weeks, they sent me another, it died in 2 weeks! Bought a CH F-16, it lasted a good 2 years. Bought another, it lasted a good long while too. The X-45 was a nice stick and lasted me about a year, though it permanently deformed my pinky :D The X-52 is by far and away the best all-in-one stick I have ever tried. If it lasts a year it'll be worth it. It is extremely precise and I have it adjusted to fit my hand perfectly, very comfortable.
My pile of dead sticks! And a fully functional rock'n'ride chair. Anyone want?

Yup! It's fun, but to be totally honest it makes me sick and gives me wip-lash. Keep trying to figure out a good application for the mechanicals. Full size Mechwarrior?

I am on the verge of switching back to my X45 after trying since January to get used to the X52. Admittedly I haven't flown much but I've come to the realisation that I can only really fly bombers effectively with the X52...and I can do that with the X45.
I do have a deadzone problem with the X52 and even after tweaking & tweaking the setup when the j/s does "kick in" it is WAAAAAAAAAY too sensitive. I go from nothing to oversensitive somewhere in the middle of a stick pull...I just can't get used to it.
I've never stalled fighter planes so much with any j/s than with the X52.

Thank you for all the Replys to this post.
You all have been a big help :aok
