Title: Nforce 4 Network
Post by: FOGOLD on August 09, 2005, 03:44:17 PM
After getting broadband I started getting a large number of BSOD's. I've tracked it down to my Nforce4 Network controller (Asus A8N-Sli). With the cable detatched  no BSODS anyway.

I reinstalled it and it seems to be fixed. Anyone else had this?

Also, is there any difference between the Nforce and Marvell LAN controllers?

I have read reports of the Nforce drivers being flakey at times and I didn't install the IDE drivers after reading so many bad things about them.

Definite problem with Nforce Ethernet. Plugged into Marvell Yukon and no problems. Hmm

I seem to have packet loss with both the Marvell and the Nforce so went back long ago to my Intel Pro card.  I haven't bothered to try either again since several driver revisions.

well I avoided nforce and went with intel's 865 (856?) chipset. I hear it's much better, because intel's got more experience in the area.
