Title: ATI drivers
Post by: SkyLab on August 10, 2005, 10:58:11 AM
I know this question has been asked and answered before but I must ask again.

What version ATI drivers should I use?
Where can I get them?
I just installed the latest drivers and now my horizon is black and the colors look all wacky in general.

Any help will be appreciated!

If you tried the ATI drivers including ver. 4.12 (I think it is) You can try out Omega drivers, some folks find they get good results with them...

To get the ATI 4.12, you just need to poke around their site, they have a "previous drivers" page there someplace :)

Thanks Alky and Star.

I couldn't find the 4.12 drivers but i did find the 4.11 version and they work fine....so far.

FYI: I got the drivers from

http://www.rageunderground.com/drivers.shtml

My sky is blue again and the enemy icons are red instead of black!

PS: The 9200 was a hand down from my son...a big step up from the 32mb Geforce2 i was using.

The 9200 isnt a great card by any means, but it will get the job done.  The 4.12 drivers are the latest ones proven stable and compatible with the older cards like yours.  Some people have luck with newer ones, some dont.  I never recommend anyone try the "latest" drivers from either ATI or Nvidia on these older cards until they have a proven stable driver in place first.  Then you can experiment.

Your right Star.

Even the manufacturers recommend that if your current drivers are working don't change them.

When it comes to drivers newer isn't always better.
