Title: Building two p-51 skins

I am trying my hand at the P-51D with "Big Beautiful Doll" and a striped tailed bird fromt he 31FG/308FS.

does anyone have good references for the first one? showing the origional historic scheme not the airshow version?

The first Big Beautiful Doll belonged to Landers when he flew with the 357th FG. Later he transferred to the 78th where the black and white checkerboard was standard fare.

Duxford's Big Beautiful Doll is spot-on accurate to the original. Duxford researches the blazes out of a scheme before they apply it.
