Step area doesn't look right looks like you did a blob and blurred it.
(Edit) again the chipping around nose panel lines don't look right:p
-
Looks pretty sweet to me.
-
Tried a slightly different way of wing weathering (no chips yet),

have to say i love what you did with the cowl flaps, and how they sort of look "open"
great job on the rivets too.... did you use multiple dots (1 black 1 white)?
-
Thanks
Cowl flaps only done one side at the moment.
All about exagerating certain things to ger a simulated 3d effect. For eg the ailerons, trim tabs (done usian gaussian blur of solid line).
Rivets are 3 seperate single dot layers.
1) Black rivets
2) White rivets
3) Copy of white rivets run over with an eraser brush set to 25%. Do multiple passes you get left with the effect of some being lighter than others. (looks like paint worn off them). Set opacity slightly higher than the original white layer.
Can't remember who first thoguht of it, someone here, but it looks great.
Paint chips is the bit I haven't quite got the hang of yet.

how did you offset them?
IE like this:
..
.
or .. then one "under" the others?
-
I do them one rivet, two space, another rivet - . . . . . .
Then the white one ares offset one diagonally with the corners touching the black corners, if that makes sense.
-
i guess i am not gettin it....
imagine this is a a zoom in of 3 1 pixel rivets
is this how you are poisitioning them?
if not can you provide an example?
thanks
-
Like this, imagine zoom in also
(http://www.cyberonic.com/~kreed/rivets.jpg)
Rivet, 2 spaces, rivet.
-
where's the 3rd "erased" white one then?
-
Only 2 dots he makes 3 copies and on one he erases to make them fade :D Can i have that text layer for 38g :)
-
Id think it would be placed under the first white one. Then, erased to make it look lighter. The more erasing, the more faded it would look.
-
Oh I see.
If you take that example as the original, you duplicate it the white layer.
Therefore you have 2 layers but they are directly on top of each other.
Then use the eraser (25%) and randomly go over the duplicate layer 3 times. That way you have 4 shades of white rivets.
Set the dulpicate layer opacity a little higher than the original.
What happens is the rivets from the original layer will show through where the erased ones are at a lower value. All the others give you the random shades of white of the rivets to simulate more 'wear'.
I usually put the duplicate layer above the orignal, but I don't think it would matter which way.

Really fast work can look 100% better :)
Btw chipping on marking looks to heavy

Had to change the markings anyway, slight inacurracy, previous pic updated.
All there apart from paint chips, thats the last bit to complete it.

:o You don't like it. I'll work with it some more.
-
Lol wasn't that.
Had a slight inaccuracy in the markings so they needed redoing.
For latest bitmap: ah-skins.
