I just think they look like  an oil well on fire.  Replace with smaller or just keep the smoke.

Agreed... Also make a slight discoloration inside the cockpit (like blood, but black -- won't really stop your fight but lets you know when you're on fire!!).

lol, Was talking about the grownd objects being on fire.  They are worst than cartoon fires.  They really take away from the way a base looks. Just my opinion

Ded, I think that they're all done the same way. Yes ground fires look like oil wells, but so do flaming zekes!!! (and they burn a lot longer, too!

No...they aren't. The ground fires are a 2D shape passed through itself 4 times. If you look at the top of a ground fire it looks like an asterisk. The aerial fire is a bunch of 3D orbs connected together in a stream.

The fire from a burning aircraft might be over the top, but it looks really cool. :D
