Had the same problem....cleaned out the film subdirectory and it went away.

NB has a good point. The Windows file system (FAT32 in particular) can get rather ugly when too many files are in one folder (over 255, if I recall, but could be less).

will move em.... but i logged back in immediately after disco, pressed alt r and it was fine, i usually record all my sorties and never have a problem.
it was just sods law, or HT hates me, that it happened to be in a 262 when it messed up. It does freeze for a few seconds if i leave NAV on and go to record usually, but i had it off this time and the freeze lasted a good 30 seconds!

This has happened to me in the past and it is definitely caused by the number of films in the films directory. Usually, the first sign I get that the directory is getting full is a slight pause as the film starts...... this pause gets longer each time until eventually a disco happens (usually at the most inconvenient time, like the beginning of a bomb-run in a scenario! :D)
Now I know that once the pauses start its time to clean out my films. The pauses do only happen with the first film each session and disappear for subsequent films. :)

the problem is too many films as NB said. Once I reach a certain ammount it does that to me as well.

The problem is not to many the problem is the exact, rather high number.
Filesystem stores its directory info in one block. When the block gets full it creats a new block to store the info in, allocating the second block and setting the links take time, ah does not run during that time and gets shot by its timetrap.
I dont know if the number is eaven fixed, might be the blocksize and filenames along with partition size matters.
I post that solely to explain why recording the 257th film works while the 256th one shoots you out.
Also, like skuzzy mentioned it depends on filesystem and other stuff.
As a suggestion, can ah2 at start up check how many files and free space are in film directory and warn/take actions if it senses a problem, maybe the people that get kicked out count how many files was the problem so you can pop up a message "200 files in film viewer directory, clear em out or you will have trouble recording".
