Watching Cross of Iron the other night and noticed that during the scene the Germans come under bomb and strafing attacks by Soviet fighters that the planes were F4Us complete with the US insignia. Never thought Peckinpah would let such a glaring error in one of his movies but guess not.

The book was great, the movie was horrible. The slow-motion cinematography drove me nuts.

Cool movie all the same though isnt it.
I guess Soviet fighters were hard to come by for western film makers back when it was made......doesnt explain why they didnt at least change the US markings but.

Agreed. I saw it at the cinema when it came out, but I walked out about half way through. It really was that bad.
As for the slow motion cinematography, wasn't that a Sam Peckinpah speciality in that era?
