Let it heal by not running on it. The muscle is very small and short. You will only continue to puul and tear it.

Im an armchair sports Doc.
but sorry I only work on patients injured during the practice of armchair sports. Armchair QBing. Armchair basebval managing etc.

If the spring in your armchair pops and sticks youin the butt while being one of those. Let me know and I'd be happy to give you some sound advice:)

What sling said.  You've got a tendon that runs the whole length of the bottom of your foot that's very easy to injure.

I had it pretty bad in the police academy.  Do a lot of stretches that involve pulling up on your toe.  Also, rolling a soup can back and forth under the arch of your foot helps.  And of course, ice it if it's tender/swelled.

Before our PT in the morning, I'd go out in the hallway and lie with my butt against the wall and my legs extended up the wall.  Do that for about 10 minutes, and it reduced the swelling enough to run comfortably for the next hour.

thanks guys.. ill try icing it down tonight.. we've in our playoffs now and im literally the teams only fast runner so its important not to miss any games... scored what ended up being the winning run on the play in question after advancing 1st to 3rd on a line drive to left field with 2 outs, so i can't leave em without that option

Hey Moose, sorry to hear about your injury. Try Heat and Ice... Ice is usually for swelling immediately after the injury, or when you irritate it again. Heat helps muscles heal and reattached critical tissues. (When I say heat, I mean like a hotpad, not the brand name of that stinky junk)

Why? did they not let you play first? Or did your mom call you for dinner? ;)

rest, massage, ice. it's the deep fascia (tendons) let them rest.
