PBY also carried bombs, depth charges, and torpedoes.

Not trying to shoot down your idea, but there is absolutely
nothing that flying boats can do now that current aircraft cannot
do better already in the arenas.

ASW and patrol were the two main jobs of the Sunderland
and catalina.  We don't have subs and just about any aircraft
including bombers is faster and can spot a battlegroup just as
easily.

While they do have uses in scenarios, both would be sitting
ducks.

The H8K2 and Coranado would be very capable aircraft though.  The PBY and Sunderland just aren't the best choices for the MA.

Frankly, the H8K2 was probably the best Japanese bomber of any kind.

I'm with Karnak on this one.

Even though they might not be main arena animals, they'd bring a whole new level of immersion to the game. Especially in some of the special events.

I'm all for one flying boat for each major country that had them.

The H8k Emily should be the first.
Some of those flying boats had some serious range. Along with good defensive firepower and ord loadouts.

Umm.....ever try to land one of our current aircraft on water? The advantages to having basically a C-47 that can land and take off from water are obvious to me.

Hmmm...I admit I've never thought of scuba diving
paratroopers.   I guess you'd have to put those PT and LVT
supplies on a raft too :aok

I was thinking land on the water and be virtually invisible until needed to drop troops.

They were pretty good at landing on water.  A seaplane base could be set up with the minimum amount of fuss too if only to give a presence in the area.

How's the rudder authority in the vertical, and can they turn inside la7s?
