Just an idea I had that may be fun to try. Each country has its group of guys who enjoy putting together large bomber groups. The ones Ive been part of usually put up anywheres from 10-25 pilots in bombers. Imagine being in a group 3 times that number.
What we could do, is plan a night of the week, I suggest Friday,Saturday,or Sunday night, at 8pm et. Each week a notice would be posted on these boards of which country we will be for that night. This way it fairly rotates the duty.
At that time we enter the arena as that country (or switch sides), and meet at a base to group up and plan. Then we choose a bomber CO for the night. Next we plan on doing our missions. The mission is created, and all pilots join. Anyone not part of the bomber group, may also join in as escort for us.
To make it more interesting, we could select different bombers than the standard fare. We could plan to do 2-3 missions, one using light or medium bombers, one heavy, maybe one as dive bombers.
If interested in this please say so here. Then we can try it out once we get a few guys involved.

I'd love to see more missions where the Mustang's and Jug's aren't loaded to the brink with bombs and rockets and instead are just escort duty. If I happen to be on while yer doing this, I'll try to help escort you :)

Probably one if the best suggestions Ive heard yet on here!:aok
-
I've been thinking of this as well, might be a nice pre-cursor to TOD! Alright Filth, what's the plan this week?...
-
Lets get a few more inputs, maybe with best day and time. Im for Saturdays 8pm et.
-
Not sure when I'll be able to play, but I'm all for some nice beefy missions.
Count me in.
-
Sounds like a hell of an idea, would be fun to see a big formation of bombers with like escorts.
-
Sounds good! 8pm Saturday is a little late (1am) for me, but not too bad with no work on Sunday to get up for. :)
-
Hiya Flossy! Ok..we'll go with saturday Aug 27th at 8pm et for the first gathering.
We can start off alphabetically and go as Bish. We will meet at a base in bishland, simply ask on country channel where the bomber group is meeting.
One thing id like to try that I thought would be cool. Have all of us take heavy bombers somewhere with loads of 100lb bombs and drop them on a target, while someone else is on the ground or low in the air filming the impact site. Just 30 secs of explosions! :)
-
I don't even fly bombers and I'm in!

those infrequent times when i ran missions, i always tried ot keep them themed (brit, yank, lw) with appropriate escort and sweep, etc...
damned if i ever saw many stay with their mission task once an enemy was spotted. so much for "faux military" tactics/discipline.
:D
-
Sounds good, but as Flossy stated the time is a bit late for people on the right side of the pond
-
I say BOOOOOOO. With that many bomber pilots and going to be active all night, its going to be porking after porking. I can see the fhs just being killed at each and every field. I dont want to see fhs dead anywhere because it kills the fights (usually the best fights of the night) and there goes my night.
-
nothing saying that the only thing bombed will be FHs. I like the idea of hitting the base towns and the strat targets. Saturday is good, im game.

Hey you don't know if they plan on killing fields or not... If they get a good turn out of bomber pilots I think it could make for a nice nite of porkin all of your strat factories down to nothing :aok ... Well that is except for the fuel refineries, they don't matter much any more.
-
Personally I dont want to be wasting such a group on FHs. They come back up before you can turn around anyways. I would like them to kill towns though.Kill like 5 towns along a front and have the enemy scrambling to kill goons.
For me...the fun is getting there. :)

5pm out here on the Pacific coast and I've already moved to Bish this tour. Guess I'm set skipper.
-
I hope your FPS can survive 30 seconds of impacts
I'm organizing these missions in the H2H, when we have 6 bomber formations, people's FPS start to drop to 4!
-
Ya'll better hope Citabria isnt cruising by your base when you launch. ;)
-
Im in!
-
Some guys have mentioned the time. Currently we are planning for 8pm et. It may goto 9pm et. But we'll know better later in the week.
-
Oh please leave it at 8pm! I can just about manage that.... :)
-
We do this every Tuesday at 7 PM Pacific
http://www.bombergroup.com
Several times we have had entire squads escort our bomber squad.
Tapakeg
-
Ok Flossy we'll leave it 8pm et.
You need to move to yesterday with the rest of us :)
Tapakeg sounds fun. This concept is to involve all the guys in AH of all 3 sides and get them together on 1 team for a couple runs 1 night a week.
We could really get a huge showing out of this.
-
My squad has tried to run historical buff missions on our squad nights. The biggest problem we encountered is if we try to climb out to the alts that were used on those missions - say 25 to 30K - then it just takes FOREVER to run one mission. For that reason alone, we only run them occasionally and don't ask for non-squaddies to join (but we won't turn someone down as long as they are aware of the length of the mission).
I know quite a few of the guys in our squad really enjoy the historical aspect. We generally use B-17's with 51D and 47N scorts - and you gotta have scort pilots who know how to manage fuel consumption.
-
Ive been on a few DFA bomber runs in the past. Was alot of fun like Relic said fir those of us who knew what we were in for.
-
Ya you have to like it...not saying every run is gonna be a 3 hour run. Once in while we can but most guys 1 hr is ok...anymore than that and you lose some.
-
I was just thinking this before, as all I do is BOMB in this game..
how do I know which side I am on? Is this for the side I am fighting on? I am green bases, is everyone green bases ? LOL NEW HERE
-
Go to the clipboard, and click on roster, look for your name, and depending on the symbol thats what team you are, you familar with chess? Or you can just look at the icons of friendly players and tell what the icon is. Or you can ask one country channel.
-
I'm in!
-
FiltH
If on Saturday, you could move it forward an hour to 7pm and make it easier for Flossy and her buddies across the pond to do a couple of runs. Keep it going until 11pm and even the west coast guys can get in on it.
Just saying.
-
Its hard to find a good time at night. And daytime people are busy. Lets stick with 8pm et for this 1st one and see how it goes. If alot of euro players want in, and its to late we can adjust the following week.

Maybe it's time to upgrade computer hardware or find a cheaper source of entertainment?
-
Just a reminder for saturday night.
-
Are you gonna post the where and when aspect of the misshun so you can generate some opposition? Tell us what the target will be soon so we can get 30-40 guys to try and stop you :D
I mean if all goes according to your plans you may have more than 60 heavy bombers and a squad or two of light escorts. Unless there is organized opposition you're gonna be bored to tears. Nobody is gonna want to go up againts hundreds of guns and two dozen escorts without having numbers themselves.
Just a thought.
-
Well, its not as if they;re trying to sneak one in...anyone reading knows when they're gonna be up :)

I bet more then a few would love 2 encounter something like this. Shoot I can't wait till saturday 2 try this out.
-
Yes we do want opposition. But I dont think we will announce "Ok guys we just upped A31 and we are going to hit A67 at 20k". We'd be dead long before target. Best I can say is sometime after 8pm et, look for a green bar and plan an intercept. We wont be doing cheesy under dar stuff. We will be high. It may be a strat target, it mat be a base. Maybe even HQ (not likely). Id send scouts to a green bar area though, it may be us :)
-
Filth, this is a good idea you've got. No need to announce your intentions, the dar bar will be HUGE! Cant wait to go up against in inbound mission like that (I die so often anyhow!)
-
Another thing...we will debrief after a mission and see who dropped, rtb, and got the most kills. After all the runs we can post the name of the guy who did the best.
Also lets write up some cool AARs (after action reports) to tell the story of the mission.
-
I agree with ya'll to a point. I see large bar-dars every night, it will be hard to determine which one is the mission unless the greens announce it. It is impossible to determine which bardar is the bombers and which is the furball until they show up on dotdar, and if you are 20K that will be too late to mount a serious intercept sortie.
Maybe when you guys reach 20K say on channel 200 where you are and don't say what your target is only which general direction you're headed? Again, just trying to make this more fun for everyone, no flames.
-

That's not exactly true.
-
Most likely it will be a full darbar back behind the lines. I hear ya. We all want to have fun. I just dont want to see guys cashing in their perks for all 262s and killing everyone before we get to target. Im afraid to have that happen would make most say they didnt want to be chew toys, and it would hurt any future sorties.
There will be plenty of fun and action for all, bomber guys included. We plan to hit each enemy country atleast once to spread the wealth. So everyone in the game can get a piece of the action.
-
Sounds like fun! Just don't know if our guys would change sides for it...
-
I think its cool. The higher you take the bombers the cooler it is. 20-25k is a nice alt, puts a little challenge in things, even with the point and click bomb sight we have now.
-
Ive switched to Bishop this morning, so that after the missions, I can return to beloved Rookton. Going to a party today. Have been challenged to a match of shoes. The guys we beat lastweek were a little ruffled and demanded a rematch. I'll have to go easy on the beer since Im flying tonight :) Gonna be tuff beatin them without me aimin fluid!
-
It is time for the gathering.
-
Thank you all who attended.
The first mission was a b24 run to Rook Munitions and city. We whacked that. We took some loses otw in, but fared well till after the drop. Then we lost contact with eashother and died off.
The second mission was a stuka raid against the Knits. We tried to relieve pressure off P222, but alas they captured it before we could do anything usefull. Dropped on A63 VH etc.
Third mission was a TBM strike against a Rook CV fleet at A42.
Some hits were observed, but we all got killed. After repeated 110 attacks the CV sank, and we called it a night.
The B24 mission was by far the best of the night. Wtg Fester for the kills on us. Wtg flight for the nice formation and excellent bombing.
-
Intercepting that huge Bomber raid (16 B24 formations) from Bish to rooks yesterday was fun actually. :aok
First time in a year or so I upped a Ta152. It performs great at 25k+ :D
to whoever organised it and to the pilots!

Next week we'll be a different team. Hopefully we can get more and more involved.

Whens the next one ? Im in :D

Saturday 8pm et. Not sure what team..will be knit or rook though..stay tuned.
-
When will Pizza Guy 4 come out?
-
LOL..i started it..but lost interest with other stuff going on. I'll see if I can finish it sometime this fall.
