Title: Lcd's
Post by: FOGOLD on August 21, 2005, 04:23:44 PM
I currently use a CRT for gaming. However, a move is inevitable. One thing that perplexes me is this "optimal resolution" thing.

Now, I know that image quality goes down if you run at less than "optimal", but I find running my work LCD (17" CTX) at its "optimal" 1280 x 1024 is darn unreadable! I'm not short sighted, but I HAVE to run it at 1024 x 768, otherwise it's really uncomfortable to use.

replaced a sony (Micron) 19" monitor
have it hooked through dvi connection to a ati9800pro
runs 1280x1024
outstanding picture

Got the same monitor last week, and I agree.  Great picture.

Eagler,

what type of DVI cable are you using?  My TI4600 has DVI output and would like to use that instead of the stock analog cable that came with it.   Will there be a noticable difference in the picture quality?

Thanks!!!

I think it is a standard DVI cable, grabbed an extra one from work

I notice a huge difference on my work viewsonic LCD's between the digitial (primary computer) and analog (secondary computer)  inputs.

I didn't even try the analog input on the samsung but on DVI, the picture is as bright and crsip as I think it can possibly be.
