Title: sound and microphone help
Post by: wrongwayric on August 22, 2005, 04:18:20 AM
I currently am using a headset with mic on it, having problems not being heard as volume to low. Also getting a talk back effect through my desktop speakers. I have a soundblaster card and also c-media AC-97 on this cp. Any clues/tips on best way to set this up? I am still hunting for a headset mic with no speakers on it or a good stand alone mic.

You need to change the microphone settings in windows, put it louder there and click on mute. The feedback you experience is a local sound card setting as i understand.

There are many ways to access the settings, one is via the configuration settings of your sound system. clicking on the little loud speaker in the windows task bar. You have to tick some switches there to find the microphone lvl, diffrent for each sound card. mostly options select the line in to show up.

are you using both the soundblaster and AC97?  if so disable that AC97.

In the windows settings put a check in the box under mic that
says  "mute".  That will stop the sound from coming from your speakers.
