I copied some CD's I own(as opposed to copies) onto my Computer so I could change them to MP3 and burn them back onto a CD. I have a CD player in the car that allows me to play mp3's so that basically gives me 10 CD's worth of music on 1 disc. Well WINDOWS decided it wasnt gonna let me copy the mp3's onto the CD. It cited the DRM thing. Found a work-around but man what a bunch of bs that is. When did Windows become law enforcement???

Okay so I'll leave out the attempt to bypass the profanity filter....
Basically what I said before was this:
Microsoft, Intel, MPAA and RIAA can all sod off.
I'm sick and tired of people trying to tell me what to do with my property. Once I've paid for it's mine..I don't care who wrote it or sang it, or whatever.
Once this computer gets beyond upgrading, I'll probrably have to just not own one anymore.
I will however as of today boycott all CD's DVD's and trips to the theatre. They don't deserve MY money.

I've never been a big music listener, let alone buyer, when I don't even have other than some fully legal free MP3's....
Windows Vista's features are going to even more alienate me from the commercial music.
If I buy a CD, I expect to be able to listen the songs as I want, not like the corporations prefers.
The music business is getting out of control..
They're just causing more nuisance to their customers, than to the pirates.
There isn't many things which could prevent the pirates from simply recording the audio output - with same quality.
Meanwhile the actual customers are totally handicapped.

Anything that you can play, you are gonna be able to record/copy. They are just trying to make it difficult enough so most normal people won't be able to do it. And your right, that is not gonna stop pirating.

What is happening with DRM is inline with what the RIAA are trying to achieve, ie total destruction of fair rights. The RIAA and MPAA are pushing for the ability to license their "art" such that they can restrict how many times you may listen/watch, and what you can listen/watch on.
Of course this will only serve to encourage piracy, but the same industry that thought online music sales and MP3s were stupid doesn't see that.
When the RIAA and MPAA are facing substantially increased piracy due to their restrictive practises in 5 years time I will laugh in their faces and say I told you so (and the soap-box antipiracy crowd).

A few things will happen for sure:
Windows vista will gain notority and lose sales because of this.
Intel will get even worse reputation than it does now and rival chipset makers will bloom (unless theyre forced to follow).
Piracy will grow as regular people will be forced to buy pirated products in order to exercise thier fair use rights.
Already many people are using no-cd hacks in thier legally purchased games - which is just a step away from not buying the game at all. I'm eternally annoyed about the 'safety' features such as starfarce, having to keep your cd inside the drive during play and have it make noise there each time you boot the computer etc etc etc when I know I could have downloaded a hacked, troublefree version in a few minutes.

Have you seen Apples plans for DRM? They make Microsoft look like Ghandi.
