Title: Any difference with the new servers?
Post by: tkor on August 25, 2005, 03:49:22 PM
I see that migration to the new servers took place this morning.
Does it seem any more stable? (I'm at work, so can't check it myself yet).

this has always been the same, even since going from 750kbs cable to 2mb.  i dont know if it is my computer's spec limiting it?

Ping is just the signal delay caused by the time it takes to reach the server.  Unless they moved their servers it shouldn't change much.  What the servers can do is improve how fast they run the serverside software and how fast they respond to clientside signals.

The game servers have not changed in any way. Only the game manager, i.e. where you get the arena list, and wep pages are on was upgraded.

So what improvement would that provide?  Not attempting to be rude but it seems that the main problem is with the game server and not the logon/message base server.  I'm inclined to believe that you are testing the new connection server with the logon/forum server to ensure that it will work better than the current game server network.  Folks were led to believe that a switch to another NET would be better than the current one and we all believed that the game connections would be done with that shutdown the other day.  I just think you should be more forthcomming with the information as it was a huge letdown for a great many folks.

All the Best...

Don't think the game servers have been moved to the new location yet.

Dunno, it does say on the front page of the website "Migration of the servers is complete", whatever that means.  I too was under the impression that they were changing to a different physical location of the main server and would be changing service providers as well.  Maybe someone is being misunderstood somewhere.

Has the relocation to the AT&T co-lo in Allen been postponed?
