Great display of being on the same team but really no comparison though. American Football and Rugby are different even though that is where American Football came from. I heard a radio interview the other day on the local sports talk show where the head coach at University of Utah said his backup tight end left the team to go play professional rugby. The kid was a really good football player but supposedly is a better rugby player so he took the money and ran with it.

I have played Rugby in the past with a local club and it was some of the most fun I ever had. You have to remember though that most men in the south have played football at one point or another and basically rugby here is a combination of the two sports because we can't get it out of our heads to use the forward pass. :lol

Its all what you were brought up on. Im sure if Rugby was our sport we'd think it was the best too. Im also sure alot of the NFL guys would fare just fine playing rugby.  But if I had a choice to make tons of money, and wear padding and helmets vs not..Id pick the NFL.

doh 15 yard penalty for making the throat slash.

Both sports are fun, did I miss the memo where you can only enjoy 1 sport?

All due respect, Vulcan, I think our Junior Football team (Links from yesterdays 27-6 blow out) can beat your adult Rugby team. :D

LOL, that was pretty cool. They gonna look kinda silly when they lose their first game though.
"God is good, God is great" kind of a little overboard for a sporting match, lol.

Won't see that kind of thing from the NFL.

Sounds like the second and third lines he's barking out. First line couldn't make out.

Unless you speak Maori I doubt you would ;)

"Kapa O Pango talks about the silver fern, the blackness of the jersey and living your time as an All Black."

I haven't seen a direct translation yet but I'm sure one will come out. I must grab some of haka from Sky sports, as the link I posted missed some of the better bits such as Piri Weepu's perfect throat cutting gesture ;)

Kapa o Pango

KIA WHAKAWHENUA AU I AHAU!
Let me become one with the land
HI AUE, HI!!
KO AOTEAROA E NGUNGURU NEI!
This is our land that rumbles
AU, AU, AUE HA!
And it’s my time! It’s my moment!
KO KAPA O PANGO E NGUNGURU NEI !
This defines us as the All Blacks
AU, AU, AUE HA!
It’s my time! It’s my moment!
I AHAHA!
KA TU TE IHIIHI
Our dominance
KA TU TE WANAWANA
Our supremacy will triumph
KI RUNGA KI TE RANGI E TU IHO NEI, TU IHO NEI, HI!
And will be placed on high
PONGA RA!
Silver fern!
KAPA O PANGO, AUE HI!
All Blacks!
PONGA RA!
Silver fern!
KAPA O PANGO, AUE HI, HA!
All Blacks!

as opposed to the old one:

Ka Mate

Ka mate, Ka Mate
(It is death, It is death)

Ka ora, Ka ora
(It is life, It is life)

Ka mate, Ka mate
(It is death, It is death)

Ka ora, Ka ora (It is life, It is life)

Tenei Te Tangata Puhuruhuru
(This is the hairy man)

Nana i tiki mai whakawhiti te ra
(who caused the sun to shine again for me)

Upane, Upane
(Up the ladder, Up the ladder)

Upane, Kaupane
(Up to the top)

Whiti te ra
(the sun shines)

I've been to every Australian based bledisloe game since '95 (a pretty good effort considering how hard it is to get tickets -  and the cost) and nothing beats the All Blacks Haka live

Is there a better link to that haka? It comes across real choppy. The second and third lines sure do sound like "God is Great." "God is good."

Rip they look pretty good there. But they do have a point...why are they playing on articificial turf? That just isn't youth football in my view. Although we may end up playing on the high school field this year if our field gets damaged any more with this current storm. We lost all the lights and bleachers there last week not to mention the turf got destroyed with the light poles fell onto the field.

That's a state call, they build the schools.(all of our games are on highschool fields) We don't have a choice of what we play on. 1/2 of our games are on artificial turf, and half are on grass.

Sorry to hear about your losses. :(

Did I mention we won our first game 27-6? :D

Fortunately the property taxes I pay to live in this section of Alabama will more than pay for the repair work but one thing we don't have is time.

Good to that you guys won the first game. If we play our first game is tonight and its supposed to be a balmy 89 degrees tonight with 100% humidity. Great football weather.
