Post by: hitech on August 30, 2005, 04:27:37 PM
Optest4 (http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/optest4.zip)

Bug Fixes.

1. Gunner Selection.
2. Flikering of transitions textures should now be less.
3. If your card does not suport Hardware TL , the Optimization stuff is disabled.

This should be a completly stable release, please report any problems running it.

question:

i forgot, but my GF Ti4800 may or may not support hardware T&L... if it does not, does that not mean dont bother testing? (not at home, on dialup @ parents or i'd look into it)

also, will the new patch (when it comes out) still make better FR's on cards that do not support it?

thanks

What about the GeForce 4 Ti 4400 series?  Does it support this hardware TL?

I think T&L support started with the first Geforce generation, so (as far as I know) all Geforce chips use T&L.

P38 nose cones & props still missing in hangar.

Also, the temporal AA thing is still wonky.  I downloaded fraps, set it up to log frame times, and wrote a script to parse the fraps file and do a threshold select, and everything looks fine.  So why is the AA messed up, and why does the new version give me a headache?  Strange and mysterious.

I'm still getting good frame rates but the invisible spots on the mountains and shore guns are still there.

But I would even sacrifice those lil bits of mountain/hill sides for the FR i'm getting now. I can now have the object detail setting 3/4 of the way up and display object size and ground vis range all the way up and my FR hardly ever drops below 40. This is with Vsink on as I reasently had some vidio card issues and just downloaded the drivers only and not the control pannel :)

Oh I'm using a Radeon 9600 pro and a 2ghz athalon with 512 of ram.

Ice did you check (sorry for asking) if it'S only in AH?

If Yes, what key you have assigned for "Precision" in You Profile. I mixed mine up lately and it sounds thats the problem i had then.

Oh btw they hav a quiet new version of th TIR-Software at tht naturalpoint Website.

HiTech, I've noticed with the Optests that I can no longer tab out of the game without a crash upon trying to tab back in. This is something that I've been able to do with no issues lately, but it now crashes every time I try. Is this likely a bug, or just related to the 2 ways the game starts up/loads shapes and such at this time?

Also, while I'm thinking about it, still seeing some oddities in the terrain. Invisible hills and terrain features at all vis ranges, and some terrain features are visible through the terrain. ie, on one side of a hill, able to see peaks of other small hills and assorted terrain bits on the other side of the hill.
