Hey all;
As of now I'm pretty sure I'm going to make it to Oshkosh this year. Are any other AH pilots going to make it? It would be neat to see some of the people I've fought here.
Here's another thing. If anyone needs any specific pictures of any planes at Oshkosh, I can try to get some for you. I'm not a photographer, but I might be able to get you some decent shots of parts of a specific plane. This is for free of course, and I can just scan the pics and send em to you in an attachment.
I have been to Oshkosh 5 times, and I must say that it isn't what it used to be. When I went in '95, things weren't half as commercial as they were when I went last year. The costs to get on the flight-line have really jumped. (plus the fact that you must buy a basic EAA membership in order to get in)
You cant even camp under your own planes wing without an EAA membership!! It used to be more laid-back and fun (IMO) when it wasn't so commercial. Not to mention I didn't see as many Warbirds there last year, and the "in-your-face" aerobatics competitions that went on for hours kinda bored me.
Still though, it is the greatest Airshow on earth. Although it has changed some over the years, I hope to have just as much fun this year as years past.
So, anyone else here going?

BTW, I have a few of the pics from Oshkosh that I took last year up on a site. I think the heat got to my camera, hence the fuzzy appearance of some of the pics. New, better camera this year, should work out better.

Those are a fraction of the shots I took, but it's a pain to scan them all.
And "Jungmeister" was an old chat name of mine (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

YES, Daddog, Ozark and I are all planning to meet there this year. We'll be camping out close to the field by the sound of it.
Whats a good place to meet on Sat? Time?
-
Might be there with Mury from WB. Will advise.

Great, glad to hear that some others from AH will be there!
As it stands right now, I will be there Sunday to Sunday. (getting there a bit early) Me and my Dad should be flying in in with a friend in their Piper Tri-Pacer. We should be camping under the wing in the antiques-classics area.
There are many places we could meet. Saturday would be OK but keep in mind that it's usually the busiest day.
Last year, the camping provided by EAA thats away from the planes looked kinda poor. Very crowded, expensive, (so I hear) and it looked kinda barren with no shade. Last year, even though me and my dad drove, we met up with a friend that flew in and camped under the wing of their Stinson. (See pic in the gallery in earlier post) For driving in, I'd almost reccomend asking one of the private pilots who flew in if you could pitch a tent under their other wing. Alot closer to the action, and alot cheaper. Again, this thing has gotten more and more commercial over the years, and I'm sure they get a good price for their off-field campgrounds.
Any day is good for me to meet other AH pilots, suggest a day, time, and meeting place and I'll try to be there.

Dhog is going also, an old Warbirds squadie. Would be fun to meet and have breakfast together. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
I don't know the area at all...Mark how about Saturday AM somewhere? Have a simple restaurant you could suggest. We can walk in and ask for the "Aces High" group, that way we can find each other.
Other thoughts?

Theres a small restaurant/cafe at the West end of the East-West runway across the street from the field called "LeSure's" or something close to that. It would make a nice place to sit down and chat a bit, and the foods not bad either.
I have circled the vicinity of this place in the photo provided by the EAA of the grounds. It's at the upper-left part of that circle, just off the image.

I'll take the silence as a no-go. If you guys would rather do your own thing, that's cool with me. From lack of response, I am not going to attempt to meet anywhere based on previous posts. I'm leaving Sunday; I hope everyone who goes has a good timne.

Just been busy here Mark.
Sat morning is still looking the best here for a time to meet.
The Cafe you mentioned looks fine IMO.

OK Ghosth I take it back (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Meet there for breakfast Saturday....sounds good to me. After the show is usually a bad idea cause everybody goes out to eat (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) How about the rest of you who are going, you're all obviously welcome to come also.
Just set a time Ghosth and I'll be there.
-
Dunno as to time, how does 9:00 sound?
Daddog?
Funked?
