Here is where it gets really interesting, I think.
-
I'd like to nominate myself for the vacancy.
The O'Club Senate Hearings will be extremely entertaining.

"Judge Hangtime, tell me what you know about 'long dong silver'"
;)

Let the games begin.

Since I may be required (if appointed) to rule on that case you will no doubt be surprised to learn that I happen to have a better Porn collection than he does.
On the other hand, I don't headline in as many titles.
-
Oh my. My senses...wait...I'm seeing something in the fog...yes, that's it...a tard storm of epic purportions will erupt in the O'Club and several will loose all control over their minds and bowels as they rush to post zippy one-liners or deeply emotional outbursts about the injustice or justice of the new justice and the glorious legacy or horrible infamy of the old justice.
But wait, I'm seeing more foul visions in the fog. I see a great suffering in the house of the MPs. One by one, they will fall and crack under the pressure as they dredge through post after mindless post, until finally, the 9th one falls and only Skuzzy remains. Oh there shall be much suffering to come. What a terrible storm is brewing.
Godspeed to Judge Rehnquist. His suffering is over, while ours has only just begun.

Oh, they tell me of an uncloudy day.

As long as we get a Libertarian judge, I'll be happy.
We already have enough Commies in our Government.

We invented him for you ;)

Cheif Justice Rehnquist

skyprancer... is that thing is his hand one of those "replicas" you brits are so proud/frieghtened of?
Well... We all knew that either kerrie or Bush would be putting at least two and maybe as many as three supremes on the bench...
This was one of the main reasons I voted for Bush.
I don't think he will be putting someone on who thinks that your city can confiscate your land to build a wall mart on... kerrie would have.
So what is wrong with a str4ict constitutionalist? You "progressives" won't lose anything... your socialist agenda will just be delayed a little for a few decades... hopefully ... a couple hundred more years. For the rest of us... it will be a relief.

Robertson's prayers have been answered.
-
I'll bet that when Judge Renquist died, being a air vet from WW2, one of the last things he woulda seen, is that in the midst of all the mess concerning aid, he woulda seen the US Coast Guard saving THOUSANDS of lives, and I hope that eased his passing
.
US Coast Guard rocks!!

off topic but...
Some people here like Libertarians (yes, with big L) :)
Question, do Libertarians advocatte "open-border" policy?
-
I hope the days of SC judges being able to cite judgments from other countries as a basis for their decisions is gone. Pure constructionists are what this country needs to get it back on the track of the original intent of The Constitution of the United States.
Just my opinion of course.

Yes they do.
One of the biggest problems I have with the Libertarian position.

with a catch
The Libertarian Party has long recognized the importance of allowing free and open immigration, understanding that this leads to a growing and more prosperous America. We condemn the xenophobic immigrant bashing that would build a wall around the United States. At the same time, we recognize that the right to enter the United States does not include the right to economic entitlements such as welfare. The freedom to immigrate is a freedom of opportunity, not a guarantee of a handout.
-
Back to the days of isolationism I say. Damn you Woodrow Wilson.
-
gunslinger... if you had no welfare or socialism you would have no need for borders so far as immigration was concerned. Schooling would be the same if you had vouchers.
It is only socialist policies that make it necessary to have closed borders.

lazs2, you do realize that some people come here simply because the pay is better?
-
Yep... so? It wouldn't be that much better if they had to pay for every service that they used.... If every citizen got vouchers say for his tax money extorted from him and non citizens were not allowed to attend or charged at the voucher rate.... If everone had to have medical insurance and there was no welfare.
If it costs you more to live than you can make... you probly wouldn't even want to live there.
socialism allows illegals to leach off the system and keep all the money they earn.
