A while back I was working Edisto-B cellblock at Leiber CI when a new arrival came. He asked to speak to my SGT but I informed him that she was not in yet. A few hours later when she walked in that inmate was still standing next to her door, he had stood there the whole time. We went into her office and closed the door. She set down at her desk and asked him what his problem was and he stated that this was his first night in prison and that he was in for sex crimes against a child. He had heard what happend to people like him behind the walls and wanderd if there was anything he should do to keep it from happening to him. My SGT looked him in the eye, smiled then said "Don't sleep on your stomach". :)

Now you have me worrying about the wellbeeing of a sexcrime inmate :(
yeah rrrrrright
Im hoping that the rumor alone of what happens to them in jail is enough to deter a few of these bugs.

Unfortunetly, criminals don't particularly pay attention to the various penalties as they really don't think they'll get caught.
After they're caught is a different matter though LOL.

Here's the really funny part.
When he gets out of jail, he'll be a bigger threat than he was when he went in.
Isn't our penal system just peachy?

Yeah and since our justice system does not really consider these predetors a real threat he will be back out raping children in 5 to 10 years.
But hey kiddy rapists have rights too:rolleyes:

Not my point.
After this ****heel goes to jail, we taxpayers get to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on his incarceration.
What do we get for our money?
The same predator... just intensified.
Something is wrong with the system. I don't what the answer is. Maybe it would be best if we just put the son of ***** down.

Oh I understand your point Sandy and I agree, the idea they go in and get to work our and learn how to be a bigger better stronger criminal is a problem.
Some criminals can be rehabed, some cant but like most sex offenders, but what can be done? How do you fix it?
-
Maybe some real surgery is in order. Chop it off.
-
Sub,
The ACLU just would not stand for that. I think the best is life with no Parole for sex offenders.

I don't know.
It just irritates me that a correctional officer thinks that it's funny. Yeah, he's going to be a victim for a change. Whoopee. If he survives it, he's going to come back to the world as a bigger threat. It's just amazingly short-sighted to think it's funny.

sandman... surely a sex offender that molested children would get at least 40 years in prison?
That being the case a 70 year old man released would not be much threat to the rest of us.
lazs

castrate all sex offenders, problem solved
-
send all convicts to australia.

Sandman, I've seen some bad things in prison and a child rapest getting a new one is the least of it. There is no worse crime to man then a crime against a child. The courts can not punnish a man enough for the pain a child feels.
If I see something happening to an inmate I'll stop it reguardless of what their crime is, don't get me wrong. But I've never lost sleep at seeing peices of an inmates skull on the floor either.

Really? How often have you seen news stories about convicted sex offenders getting early release and then committing another similar crime?
It happens.

Like I said... the ones that survive are the ones to worry about.

Lazs, perverts don't spend that much time behind bars, the States for some reason seem to think some kid with 5 joints is more of a threat to the public.
One good thing that our state has done is to make the inmate wear pink uniforms if they catch a sex offence charge while behind bars, such as j*rk*ng off to one of the female officers.

lol.
Iit's called gallows humor because sometimes victims are funny.
Walk the walk and it'll make perfect sense, watch from outside and it's offensive.
My 1st week on the job I had to climb a ladder to cut this kid who hung himself out of a tree. First I had to measure the rope, his head was bloated and leaking fluid around the rope, the stench of death and voided bowles was overwhelming. He was covered in ants, flies, maggots..
So my training officer, Sgt and a Coroners investigator think it's just the funniest thing in the world to poke this dead kids (15 or so) shoe with a Baton so he'd swing around and bump into me.. this as they both barked with laughter "Hurry up trainee!!!"
Like a good TO, I was promptly taken to eat. My TO went inside and I ate alone in the car. I held it together until I caught a good whiff of poopy-death stench that was now part of my once dry cleaned uniform.
Imagine my TO's glee as he returns to the unit to find I had just puked.. I found rubber novelty vomit on my locker, pictures of vomit found thier way to my in-box, for 2 weeks all I heard was "You're not gonna puke are ya?"

It's not a funny thing, just wait tell someone does it to you. I had an inmate do it to me once when I was working in the MAX control room, where I couldn't get to him. Two days later my CAPT cut my tour short in SMU and sent me back to the yard because he knew what would happen to that inmate if I work that wing again.
Most of the inmates on that cellblock prefered that I work their wing instead of certain other officers and in less then a week he got tranferd to another prison because a few inmates got a hold of him. Later I found out that they beat the hell out of him because they did not like the officer that took my place.
