Today, Dec. 16, 2000, General Colin Powell was appointed to the position of Secretary Of State of the United States of America by President-Elect George W. Bush. The first African-American ever to be so honored in our history.
This is a GREAT day in the history of our nation. I couldn't be more proud of the USA at this moment. General Powell, a man of great personal magnetism, dignity, and integrity, is an inspiration to all Americans that you can make it if you try.

An excellent choice for Secretary of State,hopefully Bush will choose other good people to make up for his ignorance/inexperience in handling foreign affairs/policies.
I worrys me that Bush has only been out of the US 3x in his life,never visited Europe,and when asked to name the heads of state of several nations he was totally clueless,this doesn`t inspire much confidence in his ability to make/implement foreign policy.
EDIT:

Jihad, if it makes you feel any better, Clinton's overseas experience in the 1992 election was in question as well, though not advertised in the mainstream press as G.W. is...so if Clinton did okay, I'm sure Bush will do just fine.

You act as though if our economy went in the toilet that you wouldn't be affected. It actually has a very drastic effect on the rest of the world if our economy goes titsup.

Anyways, only a fool would wish that the economy would tank just so he could watch Bush dangle a bit. If the economy tanks, people don't eat. And that's a bit more important to keep in mind than this political stuff. Definitely.

That "company" did have about 500 employee in 1999 which:
- 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
- 7 have been arrested for fraud
- 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
- 117 have bankrupted at least two businesses
- 3 have been arrested for assault
- 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
- 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
- 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
- 21 are current defendants in lawsuits
In 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for drunk driving.
