Title: FSO: Operation Husky - Frame 3 Objectives
Post by: ghostdancer on September 11, 2005, 07:59:19 PM
The frame 3 objectives have been sent to each side.

Also note we are going to try the special "Invasion element" for this FSO.

What this means is the following:

[list=1]

The invasion element will not be factored into who won the frame or effect who won the series. It is meant to be fun and to add immersion. And to give dead pilots another opportunity at action later in the frame.

It can't be balanced because it hinges on the results of the air attacks. If V5 is destroyed and the allied CA survives obviously it will be heavily in favor of the allied LVTs.

If the allied CA is sunk and alot of V5 is still in tack then the Axis M8s will have the advantage.

So please keep in mind that the air battle part is built to be balanced but the land invasion is just meant to be fun and immersive.

Did testing tonight and might have to either scrap the invasion part or think about how to redo it.

Basically found out that HE shell has no affect on any armor vehicle. Pumped 20 HE shells into a LVT and M8 at 200 yards .. dead on .. was testing in the SEA and all of them bounced off.

So an M8 with the AP rounds would wipe out the LVTs.

Did find out that the .50 call machine gun can kill and M8 very quickly though and a LVT.

So might give the Axis M3s versus LVTs. Meaning machine gun wars. Problem is that Axis really can't open up on the LVTs until they are almost at the beach.

Have to think on this. Wish the LVTs had some AP rounds or that the code was changed that HE rounds had some affect instead of just bouncing off. Especially against the light skinned M8s.

H.E. rounds should kill any open top GV.

Try LVT-4 vs LVT-4.

Sometimes, the shells from an LVT-4 can't impact on another LVT-4 until one of them moves. It's a bug.

If you need someone to test, I'm available after 5pm PST.

Well we spawned myself in a LVT4 (non open top 75mm version) and then had a M8 spawn and drive about 200 yards away. I never moved.

All my rounds bounced off him (15 shots), he was able to kill me with 1 shot of a 37 mm AP.

Then spawned both in LVT4s and did the same thing, I stayed stationary he drove off 200 yards. Again all of his round bounced off of me and all my bounced of off him.

I guess we could try a LVT4 against a Flak panzer.

Otherwise its machine guns .. the machine gun on the LVT4 was able to quickly kill the M8, LVT4, and M16 and M3.

Well it could end up being a machine gun duel .. LVTs versus M3s. Just have to check the comparative ammo loads.

But if Easycor is correct will have to check out the flakpanzer (open top) versus the LVT4 (75 mm HE rounds).

Really want to keep the amphibious invasion part .. doesn't really do anything for me to have the allies say spawn from a land base and do a mass GV invasion. The whole interesting part was 90+ LVTs storming the beaches. And then fighting to get troops to the map room.

Would love to keep the bigger guns but if it has to come down to Machine guns might do that.

I was suprised just how fast you can kill a M16/M3, M8, and LVT with just a .50 cal lighting one up.
