Title: AHII Object Editor Question.
Post by: Bogie603rd on September 12, 2005, 10:30:20 AM
Hello Everybody,

I have a question concerning the AHII Object Editor. I am trying to make a terrain to where the three basic airfields (Lafld0, mafld0, safld0) have "taxi strip guidelines". I don't know exactly what you call them. But I have located screen shots on the web explaining what I mean. Here are the links:

Notice the yellow / orange lines along the "taxi strips"? That is what i'm trying to place on the airfields. I am trying to do this for my new "Airport Map". I want the airfields to be as realistic as possible.

This is what I imagined that I would have to do to accomplish this task:

#1. Export the airfield design to a .bmp format.
#2. Draw the yellow lines where  I want them onto the bitmap image.
#3. Save the file and load it in the Object Editor.
#4. Distribute the image as a shape into the AHII Terrain Editor.
#5. Load it in the Terrain Editor and start making the map.

Apparently it's a little more complicated. Anybody who knows what I need to do please leave me a tip.

 Thanks again!

What you want to do isn't possible without rebuilding the runways, tarmacs and then fields. Runways and tarmacs are both textured with TARMAC.BMP. The tarmacs are one BMP wide and runways are 3 BMPs wide (I think, maybe 4).

So if you put the stripe down the center of the BMP you'd be fine for tarmacs. But runways would have 3 stripes.

I noticed that when I messed around in the Object Editor. What I thought was to make a few individual tiles. #1. Leave runways default. #2. Make 1 individual tile for straight taxi strips. #3. Make another tile for curved taxi strips. #4. Make a tile that allows 2 taxi strips to cross or connect to each other. #5. Make a tile that has the stop stripe on the taxi strip to signify a halt position.

Kinda confusing to me because idk how to make tiles and how to build things in the object editor. I messed around with it for a while, but decided to stop before I nuked my comp.

 Lol
