Saw some interview with Tom Cruise on the set of "MI:3" Showed some helicopters and crap flying around, then a P-51D flies over low and the reporter says" and thats Tom's own vintage aircraft". Anyone know if he's even a pilot? Maybe John taught him to fly:D

He owns several planes and one of them is a P-51, but I thought he owned a B model.

Looked a D, I was in a restraunt and about 3 tables from the TV though.

I believe he is into aerobatics as well, and owns a Pitts Special S2B or C.

Tom, I for one would just like to say that I don't agree with the insane ramblings posted by some of the other "less Sensitive" members of this board.
I think your movies have been some of the best ever - I especailly liked watching your "6" in the 501 jeans during the volleyball scene in Topgun!
Enough of the fluff, Tom. If you ever feel the need to reward one of your fans by giving them your P-51, I just want you to know that I'll be there for you then, just as I am now. Heck,it doesn't have to be the P-51 - any of your aircraft I would look upon as items to worship, just becuase they have belonged to you!

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) had a P-51 in pristine condition and flew them regularly from 1985-1998. They were part of his Vintage Airplane Collection which used to be Intrepid Aviation Company.

OK lets clarify the B/C model stuff. There is a P51C flying at Duxford in England, painted as a 352nd FG bird "Princess Elizabeth"
Kermit Weeks owns a P51C that is a flyer down in Florida at Fantasy of Flight. His is painted as a Tuskeegee airmen P51. It used to be better known as Paul Mantz's racing Mustang from the late 1940s.
The Southern Minnesota Wing of the CAF had a P51C that crashed with the pilot being killed not too long ago. It is being rebuilt to fly.
There is a guy in Idaho with a P51B/C that is being restored to flight and will be painted as 4th FG Ace Duane Beeson's "Boise Bee"
Jack Roush of Nascar fame, owns 3 P51s. 2 are P51Ds painted as Yeager's "Glamorous Glennis", and Anderson's "Old Crow"
He is restoring a P51B to flight that will be painted as John England's "U've Had it" It will have a Malcom hood.
All three are in 357th FG markings
