Title: Cheapo PCI video card
Post by: Grits on September 14, 2005, 11:26:23 AM
I have an old P3 1Ghz computer with Intel video that I want to set up at my parents house just so I can run AH films on it (trying to get dad a USMC A-4 pilot into the game). It only has PCI slots and I want to know what video card to get without getting too much. I want the minimum that the CPU would push. What do you guys suggest, Radeon 7000, Radeon 9200, nVidia MX4000? 64M, 128M?

if you could find the "Rare" Ati 9500 pci you would have it made ... but i think your stuck with a 5200 / 9200/9250  128 pci cards.

or if its a 370 pin socket p-3 id suggest a mb change to an agp type then run a card with a better gpu in it 9550 256 or higher .

Ahh! I had not thought of that. I have a couple of good AGP cards (on is an FX5900) sitting around collecting dust. I'll look for an AGP motherboard. Any suggestions for a decent 370pin board?
